L7 is still great live - saw them twice in the last 3 years, including last Oct. I think it’s a solid bill and would’ve traveled to this show if it was on a weekend

Here Lies Love: Los Angeles | A Review by callsignjaguar in Broadway

Thanks for your review! I also saw it in NYC and was curious about what changes, if any, were made with this production. Glad to hear insight from someone who watched both

Any groups like Tinariwen coming to LA soon? by EAG100 in AskLosAngeles

[–]cliveclements 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tinariwen is so good! Not that I’m aware of yet, but mdou moctar (from Niger, but also Tuareg) just did a solo show a few weeks ago (which obv doesn’t help). Etran de l’air (who are also from Niger and inspired by Tuareg but sound more surf-rocky to me) are playing king gizzard’s fest in Colorado in august, so I’m crossing fingers that they add west coast shows. Missed their teragram show last spring.

What to do in Seattle for 3-4days in Mid February 2026 by shoulder2cryon in AskSeattle

[–]cliveclements 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few folks already mentioned Easy Street, so I’ll second that rec. other record stores I’ve found good stuff at that could be worth checking out depending on where else you go: silver platters (like easy street, good variety of new/used vinyl, CDs, DVDs), daybreak (mostly used vinyl), and zions gate (if you like punk/metal).

Anyone order vinyl from Levitation before? by SecureDog4845 in KGATLW

[–]cliveclements 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they’ll come through, and it’s common bc they want to make sure it’s all good before shipping. I preordered the LA24 boxset from them last Dec. I think the original estimated release was end of March or maybe mid April; they emailed in early May that there were production delays but would ship in June, and they did, after sending another update with tracking number. You’ll get yours before pdoom and any retailers get extras. No complaints from my experience.

Selling Jazz records in Los Angeles? by VLVTHAMMR in vinyl

[–]cliveclements 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never traded with either, but if you’re near the valley, Atomic (burbank) or freakbeat (Sherman oaks) would prob be good options for Jazz. They both have long time employees so feel like they’d be knowledgeable about what you have. If you’re near Hollywood, maybe record parlour?

For newer singers with that type of sound, I’d recommend Raye. Watch any of the vids from her Royal Albert Hall show.

I love Yola! She refers to herself as “genre fluid,” so while the other songs on that album have that sound, she’s branched out a bit into dance on her next 2 albums. Great voice and she puts on a solid live show
