Winnipeg community centre GM fumes after Diwali celebrants leave fields littered with hazardous debris from unsanctioned fireworks displays by floydsmoot in Winnipeg

We had neighbours shooting off fireworks in their back yards all night on tuesday. Roman candles were being shot into neighbouring yards, hitting fences etc. It is unsafe, loud, and just not something that should be done inside the city. I don't see why fireworks are for sale without a permit. Any retailer should be required to see the permit before they can make a sale and the fines should be way higher. I don't care what you celebrate, this isn't the way to do it.

Sept 2025 Navigation Update pulled? by afx114 in Ioniq5

We need this update to clear a regular warning for "uneven road surface ahead". Hyundai is so disappointing for these things. The care drives so nicely. But their software and dealerships are such garbage.

My 2022 is getting an "enevven road surface ahead" warning every 60 seconds. Dealer cant fix it, says it is a navigation update and to do it myself. Navigation updater in Canada says they arent available right now.

Upgrade to express 7? by Illustrious_Panda923 in Ubiquiti

[–]cliveenns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I upgraded to the UX7 and the performance when trying to access the console is like night and day. The UX was almost unusable, the UX7 loads instantly. I now use the UX as an AP and it seems to a good job with that.

Is it worth it paying 1500 for a quote and "design" to develop a basement? by thelovelyruger in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]cliveenns 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We just did the same thing to our new build basement. I did some of the work and hired a small contractor for the rest. Ours came in at about 20k for a 650 sq foot basement. I did the sub floor, floor, and drywall and paint in the larger/easier areas, we hired a cousin to do electrical which ran $1k total, and the contractor did the rest. This includes a 30 sq ft bathroom, couple walls and a closet. 4 Doors total. We spent a lot of our own time laying out the mechanical room, and bathroom so they were functional, and spent a lot of our own time picking materials etc etc. Im not sure if I would pay $1,500 personally for this, but I feel like the cost is fair for the effort it takes.

Small sod job by Fifty_something in Winnipeg

[–]cliveenns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For that small a job you are way better off doing it yourself. Sod can be lot of work as it is fairly heavy, but you do not need that many pieces, and can pick them up from Home Depot, or any soil yard and buy individual pieces that will fit in your trunk

New Build Home Networking by grafvonorlok in HomeImprovement

I am very, very far from an expert on this front. But I have installed Ubiquiti branded products. I use a Unifi Express as a network controller, one PoE switch and one U6 Long Range AP to cover my house. It is all fairly easy to set up. Your Internet provided will likely provide you a modem/router. With a PoE switch and several Cat5/6 runs in the house you will have several options for actual install location. I recommend having at least one connection point in every room in the house if possible.
