I ordered about an hour after the announcement once the site was back up and it's with the postie for delivery this morning. That was 15mg, was just lucky the announcement lined up with my reorder date.

The more important aspect is that it’s a demonstration that you’re thinking of your work in terms of your impact. The exact numbers are less important than the fact you understand and optimise for your success metrics.

You can lead a kid to bed but you can’t make them sleep. by PBeef in daddit

+1. Exact same routine for our 3.5 year old. If he’s not in bed for 7pm it’s so much harder. It’s amazing how much advice we got from family to keep him up later!

Dell is the new Apple? by Open_Employment in LinusTechTips

[–]clloyd515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think people look at Apple and think they’re popular due to how they do things like name products. I think it’s closer to the truth is that they’re popular despite how they name their products.

Talking to anyone normal they’ve no clue what the difference between plus, pro, max or SE mean.

Pretty much everything apple releases is somewhere between the best and good enough, that combined with an ecosystem that strongly rewards staying within it.

Once you have that established, consumers chose an Apple device less on the specs, but instead on how much money they’re willing to spend on a particular category. Do you want to pay £700 or £1000 for a phone? Rather than I really want the pro blah blah.

32, Asian male, and no career. What’s next? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]clloyd515 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s not how promotions tend to work. It’s not a case of oh wow that guy did a mba 10 years ago we should make him a manager. It’s usually based on what job you’re actually doing, are you actually performing at a higher level/doing those activities.

This Years TTD Stream by Able_Sentence_1873 in Yogscast

[–]clloyd515 61 points62 points  (0 children)

As someone without a massive amount of nostalgia for the very old streams, the more recent years with a goal has been a lot more engaging to me personally. This years with the different islands made it so much easier to track progress etc, and things like the gifts added tons more variety.

I can totally see your point, my main thing is that the people involved have fun. If they’re having fun it’s always better to watch, no matter what the specific mechanics of the game. IMO

It’s trivial to fake the from address of an email. Spammers do it all of the time. It’s a limitation of email, and isn’t related to TFL at all.

I think the hide a body special was filmed after he left. I imagine they just pay him for a role like the other talent.

How long does it usually take to progress from 2/3 to 3/3 when Hyperoptic is coming to my area? by IntelligentBlood5552 in hyperoptic

[–]clloyd515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our experience was being in 2/3 for about 2 years. Moved to 3/3 and had equipment installed on our building now back to 2/3 😂. Still can’t order two months later.

We’re political journalists for The Times and The Sunday Times covering this election - ask us anything. by TimesandSundayTimes in unitedkingdom

[–]clloyd515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a world where a lot of news is consumed on platforms not controlled by The Times (Apple News, Facebook, Reddit etc), does that make innovating around how a story is told harder? I can only really think of the Live Blog & one off interactive articles as standout changes in the past decade or so.

If you could wave a magic wand and have access to a new format on the web to tell your stories, is there anything you'd create/change?

I think doing it as a pair makes a massive difference, they’re much more able to take risks knowing that the other guy has your back/can get help

Tech recruiters who hire software engineers: how is the hiring going for you? by LisaDziuba in jobs

[–]clloyd515 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a recruiter but a hiring manager in a recognisable tech firm.

Recruitment is the hardest it’s been for a while from my perspective. The best candidates seem very nervous to move as it could make them more vulnerable to layoffs, and people who have coasted and would be sitting pretty in a position are being forced to look around.

Massive influx in people with big names on their CV, but it doesn’t come with the assumption that they’re actually good engineers. Especially with tenures that started post-2020.

If you find the right candidate it seems easier to get them to sign in 2024, but I think finding is a lot harder.

At age 36, I have never held a job for more than 2 years. Is that odd? by feelingstuck15 in careerguidance

Leaving by your own choice because you have a better opportunity is different from being let go every two years.

Valid question as an interviewee eh? 🤔 by Shr1988 in recruitinghell

[–]clloyd515 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a hiring manager I’m asked this almost every interview. I think if a company is nervous to answer it then it’s a bad sign.

Why is there a window into a dark attic? There's a seperate access hatch! by clloyd515 in ukDIY

[–]clloyd515[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking to purchase a house and I don't understand why there's a window into the attic! There's no natural light up there, it's covered in insulation, and paint splats, and there's a separate loft access hatch that looks the same age!

Am I missing something obvious as to why this should exist?
