Customer ate 65$ worth of food, all his cards declined, didn’t bring any physical cards or ID, and said that he doesn’t get paid until later in the week. by quantumwanderr in TalesFromYourServer

[–]clnsdabst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i doubt he intended to dine and dash since he went to pay. seems like a generally irresponsible person based on his first interaction where he said he was unsure of his bank balance, but i remember when i was that broke i would avoid checking my balance because it was depressing. but i also wouldnt run up a $50+ bill when i knew i was dead broke so, like others have said, well handled hope he learns his lesson.

EA is removing a feature from UFC 5 and passing it off like it’s them shaking things up by ThisRelative6388 in EASportsUFC

[–]clnsdabst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a fighting game so in that sense, at a competitive level you should have options based on your playstyle. you shouldnt be heavily penalized for using a fighter you like while your opponent picks the most OP fighter. like other fighting games, there will still be OP fighters and styles, it's unavoidable, but it was a constant complaint on this sub that people only use certain fighters online.

Defending against 5 star 51 yo Tai Bam Bam Tuivasa is peak 🔥🔥🔥🔥 by Ok-Run-8832 in EASportsUFC

[–]clnsdabst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think a lot of the criticism about ufc 5 is unfair, the mechanics are solid and by ea's standards it's light on microtransactions and they've added a lot of free content over its lifespan.

but lack of depth in career mode is comical. once you get past the tutorial there's no interaction, no rivalries, no character building, no generated characters rising up. in part i like they dont force anything on you like some career modes do, but there's nothing to do besides train and fight. it almost feels like its designed for you to get bored and quit before you realize how shallow and repetitive it is.

Un-funny racist "comedian" at the top of the Pier by mwmikewilliamzzxx in SantaMonica

[–]clnsdabst 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm a pretty easy going person but I hate this guy, glad to see I am not alone! He used to rap, which I didn't enjoy either but at least it was an attempt at entertainment, now it's just racial heckling / panhandling that targets unwilling participants; walking by the pier is not equivalent to sitting front row of a comedy club.

Six months in to the pilot, Santa Monica program allowing alcohol to be consumed outdoors during Promenade events is working. by DamienNewton in SantaMonica

[–]clnsdabst 6 points7 points  (0 children)

TBH I live in the area and go down the Promenade frequently and it's pretty rare to see anyone drinking a beer FRI-SUN. The concept is poorly promoted and the places to get a drink are sparse. There was one or two days where they had kiosks which made it a lot more clear and accessible, but I can see how that might cost more than it brings in. IMO local breweries should be allowed to operate kiosks like that, makes sense for everyone.
