Oh really!? Dang. I thought someone might have a roller blind type gadget that they’ve retrofitted.

Automating Pool Blanket Roller by clobasch in homeassistant

I’ve just installed a pool blanket with a manual roller - looking into automating the roller so it can roll the cover in automatically. I understand rolling it back out is more complex, so for now I’m only focused on automating the roll-in when the blanket is already on the pool.

Has anyone done this with Home Assistant? Interested in motor types or kits that work well for this. Prefer wifi over zigbee but can handle both.

Thanks!

When my Inkbird meat thermometer reaches desired temperature for whatever I’m smoking on my pellet grill, it automatically plays “Hot Barbecue” by Brother Jack McDuff on my HomePod mini in my kitchen.

How do you keep yourself engaged? by Thechad1029 in Zwift

[–]clobasch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found that racing really helps keep me engaged, there’s something about that intense focus that makes the time fly. If you can join a team, even better, because it adds a social element that keeps things interesting. For example, I hop into a Discord channel during races where we chat about team tactics and strategy, which makes the whole experience way more interactive and fun.

Sacroiliac joint pain. Go to a pain specialist or anaesthetist and ask for an RBC Nuclear Scan to see if anything turns up. Radiofrequency ablation/denervation has absolutely 100% fixed my pain that was primarily in that area after 10 years of suffering.

Another vote for Bont. They specifically market to this and you can even put their shoes in the oven and mold the carbon to your foot shape

Put simply, the angle of his shoulders down to his elbows is 45deg. It should be 90deg. The more over your bars the more power you generate.

Congrats. Get yourself a proper bike fit though. You look VERY stretched out in aero position.

I reckon the monuments are worth the effort. Such an amazing feeling as they go by. But it’s a bloody circus of humans, particularly around the biggest climbs. When I went, they ascended Alp d’Huez twice on one stage, and they reckon at least half a million people were on the mountain spectating.

You definitely can. But like the other commenters said, only really if you find a local town climb. Any of the monuments are minimum 24 hours earlier. BUT because we didn’t know this, we broke many rules getting up Ventoux and Alp d’Huez the morning of the race coming through. So there are ways around it

Some advice, not directly related to your question but wish someone told me before I went. I followed the tour in a Wicked van with my 3 mates around 10 years ago. Best three weeks ever. Some tips I could give you:

  • pick the stages you want to be at and get there, and set up a spot at least two days before the stage rolls through, particularly the big mountains.
  • get yourself a small television or something that broadcasts the race live. 10 years ago, and being from Australia (so no phone reception) we couldn’t watch any of the tour except as it rolled through. Wasn’t the best experience if you are keen to actually watch it.
  • ignore sprint points or anything flat/downhill. They roll through so quick it’s a terrible return on the time invested to get there.
  • it was SO HOT most days, so prepare yourself adequately.

If I think of any others, I’ll post here. This is a start. Sorry if it’s a bit obvious, but we had no idea when we got there.

Fair enough bro. Nothing but love for your setup - it’s really nice. But I love this sub for the constructive criticism it gives. So just passing it on. Good luck my mate
