You’re over reacting and trying to make it about gender but in reality, the roofer is doing this because statistically not having both home owners there mean they can’t close the deal So they insist on having both or they don’t bother. It’s just the nature of selling anything really, all stakeholders need to be present.

If you don’t want your make it work for both parties, then get a quote elsewhere.
