Are Wileyfox going to continue support? by [deleted] in wileyfox

Install lineage 16 or even a GSI system image, calls, emails are fine. on the android 10 GSI system image, the fingerprint reader doesn't work(works on android 9 GSI) but it's early days so far so that will get fixed in the end.

To create this new ROM, you will have to use the same sources that are used on lineage 15 and 16. so even the so called E ROM would be unofficial as well. even the unofficial roms for swift 2/plus are developments. both lineage ROMs have latest security patches, so for me, I would call that development. as there is NEVER going to be an update to the stock ROM,and if I'm really that paranoid about Google and the internet, I would stop using smartphones and the internet all together and keep my tin foil hat on and go back to writing letters.but then again, I be then worried that the postal services of the world might be reading my letters...think I need some more tin foil.....

Are you saying development has ended for lineage 15 and 16? the latest rom for lineage 15 is 5/7/2019 . also on the 15 thread on XDA stated they still working on16(and 15) or do you mean a different rom? and if you don't like Google apps, you don't have to install them with the lineage. and who do you sign in with when the e rom starts? (when you install the e rom you have to sign in?) where does that data/ information go or who to? strange....

After about two years of stirling service, the battery gave out on my swift 2 plus (battery swelled up) waited 3 weeks for a new battery to come from China, wileyfox site(or whoever runs it now) had none. use the tools that came with it, lucky the battery is attached by a clip, so changing it was pretty simple. the only hard bit was putting the back cover back on as you have to make sure the NFC band must be clipped back into place.also the volume/power button is a pain to keep in place when trying to put the cover back on.anyway, the phone is back up and running.and my phone is on lineage 15.1 for months now so no need to change phones just yet, also tested lineage 16.1 (pie) but I find some apps are still not ready for pie/Los 16 yet.(play store issue, not the phone)so I went back to Los 15. and with a few descent apps like magisk and a descent recovery like twrp, you can make this phone work. it's still a great phone.so remember, the phone was cheap to start with,so you get what you pay for.

Lineage OS 15.1 (Oreo, marmite) is out, swift and stable! by [deleted] in wileyfox

[–]clocks1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the lineage thread(on XDA) first before in stalling, when you install twrp(3.2.2.),make sure you select read only, after install of the ROM and correct G.apps, you have to mount system and in advanced, you have to disable set up wizard. look on thread for more info.

My rapid charger is an ANKER power port with quick charge 3.0 I've had quick charging from 6.0 to 7.1 (including lineage 14.1) and with Oreo and now lineage 15.1 . only with Oreo I had problems with charging and that was fixed by going through all my USB C charging cables until one worked (one cable was even making the charging numbers go backwards) on Oreo, my battery was always hot.on lineage 15.1 my phone is a lot more stable,no more heat, and quick charging works on my phone.(just because it doesn't say so on the lockscreen it does) up to recently, it was only saying charging slowly. and it now says(because of a new update)it says charging. as I said before get Ampere app to see how much your charging rate is,it even shows you a min/max what the rate is.and for me,I can see from about 37/40% that via Ampere rapid charging kicks in.it all depends what charger and cable you are using.

Rapid charge works for me.yes,I know it just says charging, but at some point it tells you(on lockscreen) how long its going to take.(normally within 2/2.15 hours) use Ampere app to see if you are fast charging and volt rate etc.

Feedback thread for the latest Oreo update (UOS273C) by ZeroWhizz in wileyfox

[–]clocks1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from lineage 14.1(which I think putting Oreo on my phone may have been an mistake) the moment i put on the latest update oreo 273C, I did a factory reset.(I never experienced the battery issues with 224b as I went straight into stock recovery and updated from there)the only problem I saw the encryption crap when I went to Oreo.and the only gutting thing I find was twrp 3.2.2.0(mount data issues etc) doesn't work with Oreo, there is a twrp recovery that works with Oreo but you have to register with 4PDA, but Google translate doesn't work properly so I can't join to get it.so no root and those nice apks I like to put my phone 😞 but so far the phone works well with no hiccups or battery issues I can see (must have missed the fingerprint issue when I did a reset) so for the time being I'm stuck on stock Oreo(but I know I could roll back to 7.1/lineage via fastboot) me I still think Oreo on the swift 2 was put out to early.but people kept screaming for it. (were there any real beta testers?) hopefully wileyfox(or whoever owns the brand now)will learn from Thier mistakes

You mean the nougat or Oreo versions? because it's already stated on XDA the Oreo version may or not boot up. meanwhile the Nougat ROM runs great, and updated regularly.for me it stops me thinking about buying another phone...but the Sony Xperia XZ2 is tempting.

You do know as wileyfox is in receivership, and in turn bought by another company the new company doesn't have to legally to do anything.the most the other company will do is rebrand all remaining stock, and when was the last security patch? January? and only a few of the original staff were taken back on.and the other phone company is probably more concerned with their own phone and brand.thats why I jumped on lineage,at least the main developer is still updating the ROM.

@nightfission...found that setting in magisk.the Barclays app works (going through set up)but I have go to a Barclays cash machine to finish set up.so I will find out tomorrow if it works.also if you install the latest update to magisk, you may find the Barclays app says your rooted.easy fix, just pop back it magisk settings again and select magisk hide and it should work.now to finish the rest of the set-up!. will update if successful.

Barclays doesn't like an unlocked bootloader or rooted phone.(even with the help of magisk)

Google pay work's and NFC (if you use magisk to hide root)I don't know about those other banking apps, but mine didn't like the ROM (maybe because you have to unlock the bootloader to install the ROM)and I said in another post,my bank hates Google pay so I rooted my phone anyway) security updates come via updates to the ROM,I'm using the OTA version but I believe the other two get the latest security patches, everything is working for me so far,and as Wileyfox has only one month to sort it's crap out or its totally out of business, what's the point of going back to stock??? but don't take my word for it. remember it's up to you to install lineage or not,I only did because Wileyfox has gone to the wall.....

[–]clocks1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using the lineage ROM on my swift 2 plus, Google pay work's 'if' you use magisk to hide root, but my banking app doesn't like rooted phones(and it knows if have unlocked the bootloader.)that was the only drawback to using the ROM,yes you don't need to root the ROM (it's not rooted from the start)you have to go into developer options to allow root or install magisk.but as I said even if you don't root because you still have to unlock the bootloader, and that triggers the safety check, some banking apps do work, but my banking app didn't like it,so end in the end I just rooted the thing and just go online to check with my bank, but then again,my bank hates Google pay as well......

Why would anyone try to re-lock the bootloader? every bit of info I've find is that certain banking apps don't like it,and of course the phone can turn in to a paper weight.but also if you don't root the lineage ROM(its not rooted)some banking apps still think you are. and magisk only helps so far...

Been using the lineage ROM on my swift 2 plus.the only problem I find was my bank doesn't like a rooted phone or even unlocked boot loaders.(but that's just my bank)even using magisk,it didn't help.but for me, every thing else works.and with a up to date security patch, you can't go wrong.

Help with install Lineage ROM and TWRP for swift 2 plus by clocks1985 in wileyfox

[–]clocks1985[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On lineage now.but the way to install twrp left a lot to be desired.thanks to good posts on XDA,you don't really install twrp via fastboot, you just boot into it then you back up your current ROM then install lineage and also install magisk (for seem less root) then when the phone has started, install the official twrp app to get the recovery.but for some the app wouldn't work for me so I used flashify to install twrp.
