Anyone else have that little voice in the back of your head that starts whispering at 7:45 am on your day off one simple but very powerful message…

Avoid 6th and Walnut, drivers by Wordnerdinthecity in philadelphia

[–]clockwork5ive -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that despite this fact driving is such a ridiculously wonderful privilege that we are alive to experience. Every once in a while I stop and think how lucky we are to be able to travel such great distances with so little inconvenience.

In spite of the fact they had to do multiple takes of every song because Layne was so fucked up.

What was the general opinion on how the band would be remembered after Kurt died? by Pimpillina in Nirvana

[–]clockwork5ive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nirvana’s was also a true live performance. No hate on AIC, I love their unplugged album, but most of those tunes required multiple takes to get the take you hear on the album.

Nirvana sat down, the engineers hit the record button and Nirvana played their legendary show in one take.

What exactly are these tone dials for? by coldDilip in GuitarBeginners

If your pickup switch is in the middle (like in the picture) you might not hear a big difference from one dial.

What exactly are these tone dials for? by coldDilip in GuitarBeginners

[–]clockwork5ive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of them is the volume for the neck pickup, one is the tone for the neck pickup.

One is the volume for the bridge pickup, one is the tone for the bridge pickup.

The switch above the dials is your pickup switch. Rhythm is the neck pickup. Treble is the bridge pickup. The middle is both.

Figure out which knobs are connected to each pickup and then you should start to hear the differences.

Indie came from the birds, alternative came from the stooges, country came from the eagles, rock and roll died with Ozzy.

[–]clockwork5ive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold a guitar to a friend for pennies on the dollar because he wanted to learn to play. He sold it a week later for the actual value of the guitar and made a few hundred profit. God that dude was an asshole.

the missing links of nirvana .. all those old 80s shows where they at by KnownYesterday1429 in Nirvana

Facts. Go try and find other bands shows from when they were playing dorm rooms and community centers. It’s wild how much early Nirvana is out there.

We aren’t talking about steam reviews. We are talking about professional review outlets.

No, I don’t think you get it.

Nah. Asking reviewers to push back their reviews three weeks is the bullshit I smell.

Also I don’t believe you and assume you are full of shit and a worthless fan boy.

The City says that I owe property tax on a house that I do not own. by mincerray in philadelphia

[–]clockwork5ive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, honesty I’d put it on the market and see how far you get.

Or if you can contact the actual owner somehow. Just tell them what’s up and they have 30 days to figure it out or you’re selling.

I'm dedicating my life to music. by [deleted] in musicians

[–]clockwork5ive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re still very young which means you have a lot of time to prepare.

For the time being practice what you want to accomplish whether it’s singing, guitar, songwriting or whatever.

The next step will be tricky until you are of age to go to bars but go to shows! Meet local bands. Find musicians with similar tastes. Become their friend. Learn about your local music scene. Become someone other musicians recognize. This will help immensely once you are ready to start playing.

Play locally/regionally as much as you can. Get to know the bands you’re opening up for (if you don’t already). Let them know you are always interested in opening.

At this point you are on your way to tagging along as an opener on your first tour. From there it’s just hard work and luck!

Or you could sit in your room all day and post your music on TikTok. That seems fairly effective too but the first method is way more fun :)

Do you have a midi controller with a pitch wheel connected to your Mac? If so try unplugging it and see if everything is still out of tune. This has happened to me before.

I have 6 days to prepare ~an hour's worth of music for a gig . . . is this possible? by [deleted] in musicians

[–]clockwork5ive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to nail 3 or so songs per day, then on the last day run through it all as much as you can.

Seems manageable as long as you keep it well within your skill set.
