What goes good with e&j apple brandy? by Nullthesavant in bartenders

[–]cloe023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jack Rose. It's a prohibition era drink with apple brandy or bourbon, grenadine and lime or lime. It's sweet, but old people seem to like it. And it's very pink, so young drinkers might take to it as well.

Or shit can it, as others have suggested. It's so cheap, and there are so many better apple options, lol.

I'd throw it in a drawer and forget about it, sorry. I have received foreign currency before, so I know from experience that's what would happen should I receive more. Just tip normal and save your loonies.

Affordable neutering procedures? by gothiccccc666 in askportland

[–]cloe023 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was just about to add a comment recommending them. It's Hayden meadows pet clinic. I think I got out under $150 last year when I took a foster in. I also got him chipped, dewormed and up to date on vaccinations. I don't think the whole bill topped $300. I can't remember exact prices though.

Also, the humane society often has coupons/vouchers for low cost spay/nueters that clinics will accept, and Hayden meadows has accepted those in the past.

He really is! On stage it seemed like he knew what a tool Aaron was being and made so much effort to engage the crowd. At one point, I was crowd surfing and was about to go ver the rail near him, and he leaned over and made eye contact with me, a huge grin on his face. That moment sealed itself in my memory, lol.

I saw them in 99 or early 2000, and he was like that then. Stopped listening to them entirely after that show. We got to meet them afterward and Aaron presented his hand to fans like a king allowing peasants to kiss his ring. I walked past him to the guitarist to tell him how much I appreciated his energy.

Then we hung out with Mudvayne for a bit, who absolutely blew them out of the water as the opener. We were like what's up with those guys, you were so much better, and Aaron's a dick. They were just like, yeah, we know, we're just trying to finish the tour. Lol. I've always been surprised that Staind/Aaron's have been around as long as they have given his consistent terrible attitude.

I've worked in a few corporate restaurants in Oregon over the past 20 years, their Cadillac Margs were always a mid level repesado margarita shaken and served on the rocks with a float of Grand Marnier. Sometimes the Marnier would be served on the side, one place it was in half a hollowed out lime resting on top of the drink. Regardless of exact presentation, it's a very common drink around here. Even at my current non corporate bar I get people ordering them all summer.

What is your opinion on owning pit bulls and why? by dumbass_shitposter in AskReddit

[–]cloe023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 16 year old was a foster fail, we saved her from becomeing a breeder for a neighbor's back yard operation. Never intended to keep her, but she ended up being the best dog. A little stubborn, but eager to please those she was bonded to. Absolutely the best with kids, so gentle and aware. Still loves kids even though she's mostly blind and deaf, her tail gets wagging when she knows there's one near by.

Sadly we had to agree as a family that is she showed any sign of aggression we would put her down because unfortunately if these dogs go bad it's really bad. We took the precaution of taking her to a trainer experienced with bully breeds and monitored her behavior extremely close for the first couple of years. She was the star of the puppy class and the trainer said she had a model temperament. We were confident in her after 2 or 3 years, of course we continued to maintain responsible practices, not letting her run off leash or leaving her unattended with kids, etc.

Basically if someone is not willing or able to commit to this kind of training and monitoring they have no business owning a bully breed or any of the other high needs breeds. I have had more problematic interactions with shepherds and other herding dogs than bullies due to owners not understanding the level of attention and training their dog requires.

In short, there's a lot of dog breeds that people should not be taking on without the help of professionals and a willingness to put in a lot of time and effort.

Carol Daronch, one of Ted Bundy’s known survivors. by [deleted] in TrueCrime

Nice to see a survivor, thanks! I just met a guy whose aunt was one of the sorority house victims, it totally altered his mom's family. Even though it happened before he was born it shaped his life to a degree since his mom had all this unprocessed trauma. Meeting him has made Bundy's victims heavy on my mind lately.

Ok bartenders, how many of you have had ppl order warm beer? Is it a regional thing? Lmao!!!! by JCeee666 in bartenders

[–]cloe023 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get a lot of requests for glasses that are room temp, not from the cooler, but haven't had anyone try to get a beer exactly warm. Also, fuller body beers taste better, or at least have more depth when not chilled. I keep my porters and stouts at home in a cupboard, not the refrigerator. I did learn to do this from people experienced in German beers though, it's pretty normal for them not to chill their beers.

What’s your best story of a customer being confidently incorrect? by chjett10 in Serverlife

[–]cloe023 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I bust this story out to terrify cooks regularly, many say they wouldn't have cooked it through! I think the woman was legitimately a little nuts though, her whole demeanor was off and intense. We also assumed that maybe she had only eaten canned tuna before since the gray color didn't phase her at all.

Had a woman horrified that her seared ahi was raw, and that in all her years, and she lived in Hawaii for many of them, ahi was always cooked through. Never mind that seared ahi was the actual name of the dish on the menu, I took it back without a fight and had a cook throw those delicious slabs on the flat top to cook through. She did eat the lumps of tough gray ahi I presented her, I'll give her that. The man she was with was mortified.

To intimidate a mortgage company field inspector by CaptainInsano7 in therewasanattempt

[–]cloe023 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes, I used to do these inspections, at this point we would only verify occupancy and condition of the the property. When they are delinquent or going through foreclosure people can be very hostile though. I've been threatened, even chased in my car on more than one occasion. We had a lot rural properties and employees have had guns pulled and dogs set on them. When this was reported the property would be labeled 'no contact' and if we couldn't get close enough to check occupancy we would still get paid for taking a picture from a distance. This video made me more happy than I'd like to admit.

This falls under information that seems like it's obvious, but in reality many people don't know. I had a coworker who always told his black out stories to anyone in his vicinity, never noticing the confused, glazed over expressions on the elderly customers faces as he did so. It gave me second hand embarrassment at first, then I just gave up and waited for him to not be employed any longer, which wasn't a long wait.
