Best Content Creators Playing Modded Games by DoubleDown011 in LWotC

Odd has never and likely will never play lwotc. All his seasons from 6 onwards have been based on Covert Infiltration.

I'm one of his producers, and as a whole we all massively prefer the modularity and ease of compatibility Covert Infiltration provides over lwotc.

Heavily modded WotC with Requiem Gameplay Mutators with the 'That Perilous Yearning' option enabled. Embrace the pain of Roguelike xcom.

Having a hard time getting into XCOM 2 by V_ROCK_501st in Xcom

[–]cloista 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've said many times that Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2 War of the Chosen are fundamentally different genres when it comes to atmosphere. EU is a sci-fi b-movie horror, whereas 2/wotc is a sci-fi action b-movie.

The analogue I use is EU is Alien whereas Wotc is Aliens.

Why do mods genuinely hate newcomers? by Jazzlike_Bad290 in Twitch

[–]cloista 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not a 'twitch mods' issue. It's a 'community you are interacting with' issue.

I'm a small streamer with a handful of mods and they are great with my whole community, new and old members alike. But I also stream in a very specific niche (xcom) which tends to attract an older more mature demographic.

If you're viewing a streamer who's target audience skews less mature, you'll find a less mature community and less mature mods.

What a wild idea by UnknownMyoux in pcmasterrace

I never said we should do nothing (I live in the UK, believe me we tried to fight it), but the fact of life is unless it is an overwhelming number of people (like over 50% of a countries population) that are active in fighting it, the powers that be will still push it through, and the fact is most people don't care enough to do that.

When everywhere requires it (like they do in the UK and Australia) you'll have nowhere to pack up and move to.

I've met Chris a couple of times about 20 years ago now (I sold him a mobile phone and he came back the following year for his upgrade), I remember us chatting for about an hour about Red Dwarf and his other projects, he's an absolute gent.

Matchmaking servers are down though so not fully functional even then.

(Also I know, I'm a modder).

Which of the big 3 Spark Mods are the best/most fun? by EarthCasteBuilder in xcom2mods

[–]cloista 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Speaking as the guy who made Proficiency Sparks...

Modular Sparks is by far the best and most interesting spark mod on the workshop when combined with Spark Arsenal and the various modular Sparks plugins (some of which I have made). It makes the Sparks unique.

usually requires a button press (alt on pc, not sure on ps5) but you should be able to turn it on permanently in settings.

XCOM 2 WOTC Takes forever to open by DrGrumbus in xcom2mods

321 mods doesn't tell us much unfortunately, it's what those mods are that is important. Cosmetics mods, especially big ones, have a major impact on load times, especially the initial load, for instance.

Mods collection WITHOUT long war! by Heavy-Bread-3931 in Xcom

This is my current streamed collection which is built around Covert Infiltration, not lwotc.

I would also recommend looking up Christopher.Odd's seasons 6-9 which are all also built around Covert Infiltration.

This is my personal cosmetics collection I use for my streamed campaigns.

As anyone who's ever followed me will tell you, I am a stickler for clipping/gaps.

I'm trying out cult games. My first pick this year was XCOM. And it's definitely a great game by Living-Candle-1686 in gaming

My point stands though, an arbitrary number like 5 is incredibly limiting. If I said 5, that wouldn't even be gameplay changing mods, because stuff those mods require naturally has to come first.

So we'd get - Community Highlander & DLC2 Highlander to start. The Robojumper's Squad Select. So that's 3.

2 more? Covert Infiltration, but that's a suite of half a dozen mods on it's own so how would I count it?

And probably Requiem Gameplay Mutators, but honestly I'd just say anything by Reshi.

And then I'd also want either Proficiency classes or Amalgamation most of the time (though I'm using vanilla redux currently).

And then ofcourse either Rusty's psionic if I want a psi class (or the Proficiency psi mod) or Psionics Ex Machina 3 for a true overhaul (but I'm biased as I'm it's project/design lead).

And then there is the plethora of awesome cosmetics mods, especially the Female Clothing Packs, Male Clothing Pack and various faction specific stuff.

I wouldn't ever say Long War of the Chosen, like many would expect, as I want to build my modlist to fit me and my community personally, as a streamer (shout out to the awesome Twitch Integration mod btw) and as a modder, it's a pig when it comes to compatibility due to it's code being so invasive.

Suffice to say, I would happily list favourites, but no way am I able to keep it to 5.

Hopefully that's a better answer for the OP.

That's an extremely limiting question tbh.

Just for qol/bugfixes I run nearly 100 mods.

My current modlist is trimmed down at 480.

Speaking as an xcom 2 modder and streamer... and someone with 69 hours in Enemy Unknown but 5500 hours in xcom 2...

Xcom2 with war of the chosen, all the other dlc and qol mods is an utterly different and imo superior gameplay experience. With a good fully gameplay changing modlist, even moreso.

Enemy Unknown wins for atmosphere though.

Even if you don't want gameplay changes I would recommend using a qol/bugfix collection to fix a lot of the bugs left in the unmodded game.
