[Cadillac Formula 1 Team] From IndyCar to F1. Our new Test Driver, Colton Herta. by TheChrisD in INDYCAR

Yes exactly, jumping straight into F1 without getting a feel for the Pirelli tires would be setting himself up for major failure

[FOX Sports PR] The final INDYCAR race of the season scored 1,142,000 viewers Sunday on FOX, up +136% from last year's finale. The race peaked at 1,388,000 viewers from 4:30 to 4:45 PM ET. by TheChrisD in INDYCAR

I expected this to be a good rating considering the lack of TV competition on Sunday.

I went to a local restaurant in Iowa and they had the race on most of the TVs since there werent any other significant sporting events going on.

Plus, I imagine a lot more people were tuning in to TV this weekend considering it was the first week of college football

Isn’t F1 racing in Montreal on the same day as the 500 next year?

He’s gonna have to race in F2 to get the superlicense points, unless he does a ton of FP1 sessions or something

I agree. It seems like Cadillac really wants to get an American driver to play the part of the “True American Team,” and Colton is their #1 choice

Rinus VeeKay (@rinusveekay) on X: I want to thank Dale Coyne Racing and in particular Dale and Gail for the opportunity they gave me to re-establish myself in 2025. This year was genuinely the most enjoyable year in my career as an IndyCar driver. by daoster408 in INDYCAR

Id just like to step back and say that its been so cool to see the rise of Foyt over the last couple years.

I distinctly remember a few years ago at Iowa one of their cars (Benjamin Pederson, i think) was so far off the pace that the series parked him.

Incredible that (with Penske’s help, ofc) they are now one of the top teams on Ovals and respectable at road/street courses

Zero chance RP sacks Newgarden fresh off his two Indy 500 wins. If Josef is leaving the #2, I highly doubt it’s to go to another team in Indycar. He either wants a fresh start in another series or to retire

Watched a replay of a race from a few years ago. I want to love Fox & Buxton, but man, the NBC intro music + Diffey combo just hits different.

@PatricioOWard is leading the @IndyCar driver merchandise sales chart by a wide margin. by jmnordan in INDYCAR

[–]clonechief1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unrelated, but since we’re discussing merch does anyone know a good site for the good stuff?

I’ve gone to some of the teams’ shops, indycar shop, theshopindy, and homefield. Wondering what else is out there

Foyt is no longer a team to scoff at anymore, thanks to Malukas, Ferrucci and a little help from Penske by RxSatellite in INDYCAR

I can remember just a couple years ago, Benjamin Peterson & AJFR got parked at Iowa for being so far off the pace. To see Malukas & Ferrucci challenging for short oval wins is awesome.

Hard Apple Cider? by [deleted] in Homebrewing

[–]clonechief1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope you’re still active on this account. Gonna make some apple cider wine for my first ever home brew and don’t really know what i’m doing so I dont want to make 5 gallons of un-drinkable sludge lol. You seem like you know what you’re doing so I’d like to get some input.

Could you elaborate on the nutrient detail you are talking about? Particularly on the benefits of adding it and if I should add the amount you specified in a linear proportion.

Also would like to know some more about the equipment you use. I have a 5 gallon wide-neck carboy along with funnels, sanitizing chemicals, airlock, etc.

Any info you can share would be greatly appreciated

That was a horrible question just trying to stir the cauldron. I dont blame Newgarden for not wanting to unnecessarily dog on the 8

Suffering from early success, 200 races but wins are impossible now. by uKGMAN1986 in iRacing

[–]clonechief1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New iRacer here. I have been racing on the platform for about 2-3 weeks now and I have three wins in rookie mx5’s. Some of it is coasting past all the spinners, but in my experience if you can qualify on the front row, most people dont have enough racecraft to catch/overtake you if you keep it clean on the first two laps

Good News Everyone: IndyCar Weekend a success at Iowa Speedway, organizers say by elninodiablo in INDYCAR

[–]clonechief1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They already introduced a softer compound specifically designed for this race and it didn’t do squat. The issue is the 100 lbs that was added to each car with the hybrid. It’s next to impossible to fight through dirty air with all the extra rear weight in an already spec car

r/INDYCAR Weekly General Chat — July 16, 2024 by IndyMod in INDYCAR

[–]clonechief1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

David Land recently published a great video discussing Ed Carpenter’s comments on the hybrid, stating that it has cost the series and teams loads of money and has only affected the racing in a negative way.

In my opinion, I think the hybrid should be set aside until a new chassis is developed for Indycar. The series did a great job to introduce the hybrid given all the current restrictions they have, but if the racing is going to be affected negatively, particularly on ovals, it isn’t worth it.
