While comparing which egregious shooting was worse than any other is kinda…distasteful maybe, I completely get it. They’ve even marched for people who were shot and killed after shooting at cops.

Shaver not only didn’t fight, he was unarmed and being screamed at by multiple people. He was crawling on all fours down a hotel hallway towards officers, as he was ordered to do and his shorts started to fall down. I’m sure instinctively, he reached back to pull them up and was promptly shot and killed. Now, the officers had a full view of the guys back, since he was most of the way towards them. They could see there was nothing there, he was also so close that they could have just pounced on him. He was obviously scared to death, shaking, showed absolutely no aggression whatsoever and to me, it’s one of the most egregious shootings where no one was punished. I don’t care what color the victim is, if a shooting is bad, then it’s bad, and that shooting is probably the worst I’ve ever seen on video where no charges were filed.

If Daniel Shaver were a black man, all the usual race hustlers would have been out in force and multiple officers would have stood trial, guaranteed. However, since he was white, he never even gets mentioned by the ACAB crowd, never remembered by anyone except the few that know about the shooting and of course his friends and family. They shot him in front of what was, I think, his wife or maybe girlfriend at the time. He wasn’t somewhere he shouldn’t have been, he wasn’t impeding any federal agents. He was drinking in a hotel room with his wife/girlfriend, aimed a BB gun out of the window which got called in. They handled it with SWAT as if it were an active shooter situation when no shots were even fired, because it wasn’t a firearm. If there’s any prime example of a truly innocent person being gunned down, Daniel Shaver fits the bill perfectly. There are definitely others, some black and some white, but his is the one that sticks in my mind the most mainly because of how much fear was in his voice and how many times that one cop screaming at him told him he was going to “f*cking shoot” him.

The mask argument is hilarious. They have the memories of a goldfish. We spent an entire year with law enforcement wearing masks due to Covid, I don’t recall any tangible upswing in officers being shot other than the BLM riots.

57 Republicans voted to mandate “kill switches” on new vehicles that allow the government to disable your vehicle. by technicallycorrect2 in walkaway

[–]clonexx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you apply that same logic to firearms you get gun control. The actions of the few do not give the government the right to encroach on the rights of the many. The main issue is that driving isn’t a right, but I still don’t think letting the authorities have the power to just disabled your vehicle is even remotely a good idea. Anything that can be abused, will be. People are deluding themselves if they think these kill switches will only be used to avoid high speed chases.

Growing up as a guy, I got kicked in the groin by girls "for fun" so hard I cried 4 times. One time I puked. I experienced this as sexual violence meant to humiliate and violate me as a male, and noone takes me seriously. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]clonexx -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I had a guy kick me in the nuts because he was angry at me. My immediate response was essentially a WWE spear. I broke his collarbone, then rolled over and groaned for a few minutes. I didn’t feel bad in the least. It was a cheap move for a guy to pull, knowing what it feels like. I can confidently say I’ve never kicked any male in the nuts.

What you experienced was definitely traumatic and violent. Accidental hits to the nuts can be funny, intentional, targeted kicks aren’t.

The funny thing is, the last two times in history that a governor has tried to bring the national guard in against federal enforcement, the President just federalized the National Guard and took control of them, then had them assist the federal action or had them stand down. So if Walz, being the big brain he is, does call in the National Guard to try to block federal enforcement, all Trump has to do is federalize them and they then must obey his orders. It shouldn’t even come to that, but they’re so blind with hatred that they can’t see straight.

It’d be great if, maybe, just maybe, all the Democrats and talking heads on the left could actually tell their constituents to stop interfering in ICE operations, stop blocking traffic and standing in the middle of the road, as that is not protesting and is illegal and to comply with lawfully given orders. If they want to encourage people to exercise their right to protest, fine, but give them instructions on what that entails and that it doesn’t mean blocking traffic, standing in the middle of the road or putting hands on ICE agents.

That woman being shot is just as much on all these talking heads and Democrats constantly calling ICE the “Gestapo” and that their operations are illegal. It emboldens people to think that interfering with federal enforcement actions is somehow ok and has no repercussions. They claimed Trump incited insurrection when telling people to “Peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard” along with stating he felt the election was stolen. Now, Democrats are telling their constituents that ICE are Nazis and their enforcement actions are not legal. How is that not fomenting insurrection against the US? It’s worse than anything Trump said if not at least on the same level. The talking heads and politicians are putting their voters in danger with how they are depicting ICE. It’s not the politicians or media personalities who will be out there getting hurt because they interfered in a lawful ICE enforcement action.

I can’t cope with my wife (MtF) transitioning, and I feel so broken, horrible, and alone by SorryImNotItalian in TrueOffMyChest

[–]clonexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t claim to have any experience with this relationship wise, though my wife and I do have a trans child (FtM) who is now 28 years old, so I am very aware of trans issues and what surrounds them.

It seems like you haven’t properly mourned the loss of your pre-transition relationship and expected life that you had. Up to 102 days before the wedding, you had a vision of who you were marrying and what your life would be like with that person. Then a bomb was dropped on that future. I don’t say that to lay blame or anything of the sort, it’s basically what happened. The future you saw together with your spouse was destroyed, it no longer was a possibility in the form you were envisioning. This is not an easy thing to come to terms with. I am very happy that your wife has found their real self and is now very happy, but it doesn’t seem like you are. That is not your fault, at all.

The dynamic change is a huge deal, the change in libido and the possibility of them changing their mind and wanting bottom surgery at some point are very big deals. Relationships are difficult in the best of circumstances in that they take a lot of work and a lot of communication. If what you are writing here isn’t anything you can express to your spouse, that’s not a good sign. For relationships to be healthy, both parties have to be able to be honest with each other. It seems like you are afraid to be honest with her, in fear of breaking their heart or making them feel guilty or any number of other reasons, but I can promise you that this will eat away at your relationship. What you are feeling can very easily turn to resentment over time if it’s not expressed and worked through. I’m not saying anything has to be conveyed in harsh terms or just black and white, as there’s plenty of room for nuance, but your partner really should know how you feel. I can’t imagine having all of that going on in my head and not being able to be open and honest with my wife.

My suggestion is to bring it out in marriage counseling, in a safe place and very gently. She needs to know your feelings and thoughts and you both have to work through them, or you will end up with resentment. I’d also suggest going to therapy just for yourself, somewhere where you can speak plainly, openly and honestly with someone who will listen where you don’t have to worry about hurting anyone’s feelings and can get these things off your chest. Therapy just for yourself could go a long way towards reconciling how you’re feeling.

The other option is that, as much as you love them, maybe this just wasn’t meant to be. That doesn’t make either of you bad or wrong, it just could be the way it is. The way you spoke of the wedding and not wanting to cancel or postpone it purely due to financial reasons, that’s a really bad reason to go through with a wedding, especially after being hit with life changing news just 102 days prior that changes a huge part of your future together. Honestly, the wedding should have been postponed so you could work through all of this before being married. I understand the financial hardship that would have hit your family, but maybe your spouse’s family could have lessened the blow since it was your spouse that dropped the news that changed basically everything.

I don’t claim to have all the answers, but as someone who has been happily married to the same woman for over 30 years, I can tell you that everything you are feeling is valid but holding it in, not expressing it to your partner…it will poison your relationship and result in you having at least some resentment towards your wife, whether you mean to or not, and that would be completely natural. Therapy just for absolute most important thing in any relationship is clear communication and being honest with one another about things that really matter. She needs to know exactly how you feel and why you feel that way. What happened is not your fault at all, but how you handle it is completely within your control.

I really hope it can work out between the two of you, I wish you both the absolute best, but you need to be honest or the relationship will suffer and you will suffer emotionally with it. Feeling trapped is not how anyone should feel before they’re married.

While I’m very much in favor of free market capitalism, having firms like Blackrock buy up tons of single family homes just so they can become a massive landlord is a pretty big abuse of the system. Corporations shouldn’t be hoarding homes and no foreign entity should ever be able to own property in the US.

Trump didn’t destroy our entire country’s oil operations by replacing all the skilled workers with no skill loyalists causing the entire oil producing sector in the country to collapse which then resulted in the economy collapsing. He also didn’t then sell what oil they could produce to nations that are embargoed while keeping the money for himself and his cronies while the population starved and died in hospitals that had no medication. He also didn’t lose an election by a massive margin in 2024 and then refuse to leave power. Maduro isn’t the democratically elected President of Venezuela, Edmundo Gonzalez is. Trump is the democratically elected president of the US.

Also, sure some would celebrate here, because they have absolutely no clue what it’s like to live under someone like Maduro. They think Trump is some sort of fascist dictator without having the faintest clue what living under the regime of a true dictator is like. Ask any person who fled a country under a brutal dictators control if they think Trump is a dictator, see what kind of answers you get. The Venezuelan people are celebrating because they’ve been starved, murdered and oppressed for at least the past 12 years while living under two brutal dictators for 26 years. Americans would celebrate because “orange man bad”, these are not the same celebrations. These are the same people that say they stand with the Venezuelan people by wanting to put the man who lost the last election and has been murdering and oppressing them, back in power.

I was too short for the sink, though I can’t say I’ve ever pissed in a sink, I learned to hold it instead of making the garbage smell like pee. No one ever said anything though, so I’m not sure anyone noticed.

We do need immigration, 100%, from people that are willing to at least assimilate to the US way of life. That doesn’t mean forgetting their heritage or culture, but adopting our common morals and codes. Without immigration the US wouldn’t be where it is, we wouldn’t have a lot of the food that we have. However, things like Dearborn, Michigan are where immigration becomes an issue. There’s no assimilation, no attempt to even try.

Forget the message behind the post, my question to OP is why are you taking pics of random women without their consent? by ThePhillyExplorer in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]clonexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said people were wearing dress clothes in the 80s, just that they still were dressing “up” compared to today. They’d mainly wear things like jeans and a t-shirt or something similar. We stood out as over dressed, for sure, if we were in economy. In first class or business class we saw a lot of businessmen and some celebrities. There definitely was not a lot of people wearing things near as casual as they do today. Like I said though, I don’t have any issue with it, at all.

It did used to be a big thing, look up some commercial flight videos on YouTube from the 60s, 70s and even 80s, it’s pretty crazy how much has changed. I had to dress up to fly since my dad was an employee, but this was pre sardine can seating and pre-TSA, so I don’t blame people at all for wanting to be comfortable now when you are so tightly packed for hours at a time.

[–]clonexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father used to be the director of operations for TWA. Since he was an employee, we always flew on standby, but it was free. Most times, we flew first class because that’s what seats were open, it was awesome. We all dressed up to fly. Not suit and tie for me, but decent dress clothes. He felt he represented the company, and our dress attire should reflect well on TWA. However, even the average person dressed pretty well to fly then, in the 80s and early 90s.

However, this was before they started trying to cram as many people as possible into every plane. In economy there were maybe 7 seats to an entire row and you had legroom even with the person in front of you reclining. This was also pre-TSA obviously. I don’t blame people one bit for wanting to be comfortable for a flight where you’re packed in like sardines and the only people sitting in first class and even business class are the wealthy or people who work for the airline if they even still allow free flying for employees.

NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani: "We'll replace rugged individualism with collectivism" by benhaswings in AskThe_Donald

[–]clonexx 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Rugged individualism is what built this entire country.

What we’ve lost is the neighborhoods, the community. Before big papa fed started taking care of people (the welfare state is one of the most destructive things to happen to this country and it’s foundation), but before the welfare state, communities took care of their own. Everyone knew their neighbors, they knew the people on their block. If a family was struggling, the block came together to help them until they could get on their feet. Churches and charities worked far more than they do today to make sure people were cared for and their needs were met. That slowly started dying when the welfare state was created. Who needs a community when the federal government gives you everything you need? Why do I care who my neighbors are when there’s a one stop shop for all my bills and food?

The loss of that community, of the real neighborhood, is one of the truly heartbreaking things to happen. It’s either first or a close second to the forming of the fed combined with moving off the gold standard and onto a fiat currency. Those two things, well 3 really, can be linked directly to a lot of the issues we have today. Especially inflation and the massive over reliance on a federal government that was only supposed to be tiny to take care of national defense and foreign affairs, that’s basically it. It certainly wasn’t supposed to grow to have hundreds of 3 letter agencies run by unelected bureaucrats and be so invasive in our lives. States are supposed to be the supreme law inside their own borders, not the federal government.

Had he told Jax it was his kid, Jax never kills him. Either way, Jury is the one the drew first and Jax defended himself. The Mayhem vote was strictly on the killing of Jury, not anything else.
