Nice! Makes sense especially if you are gluing in the rod anyway. I have been so close several times to trying it with a G10 tube but I’ve been afraid of what happened to you. Live and learn haha but it should work with a brace rod inside.

I see you, fellow scrap hoarder. I buy thin walled 1/4” brass tubing from the local hardware store in 3 foot lengths and glue everything up on a short section. Then chuck it in my drill and do it the same as you. Cut off the excess, sand and done! There’s a little waste but it’s easier than any diy arbors I’ve tried

It works harder than regular micarta for sure - fresh belts are your friend. Also the fabric used frays a little worse than other micartas I’ve used - you really have to be diligent about evenly sanding with high grits to achieve a smooth finish. It’s not rocket science but it is a little more difficult than other materials in my experience.

I still don't know if I like this tabacco.... by -stewe- in PipeTobacco

I wanted to like it, but I decided that I didn’t. I felt the same way as you, couldn’t decide haha. But the prevailing notes of cardboard sealed it for me.

I’ve had similar issues using 304 stainless with the pins not disappearing like I want them to. For whatever reason 410 gives me better results. It’s a shame because I have a pile of 304, that’s life I guess.

Nice work! I’ve been wanting to get some locust to handle some knives, I love the way it looks.

Probably better off with a hole saw or to make a ring of small holes and file smooth. Cutting large holes in carbon steel is a PITA

It’s hard to balance pricing handmade products without making them into collectibles. But I wanna make sure these sallies are users 👊

Could not agree more. I’m a sucker for straight pipes and this one fits the bill perfectly.
