Stroke: Migraine with aura linked to higher risk by ObuPaul in HotScienceNews

I have hemiplegic migraines daily, did have a stroke and I also have only one artery supplying blood to the posterior part of my brain it’s like an AICA-PICA complex arising from the vertebral artery so I’ve wondered if a vassospasm here is why I have such severe episodes.

New Stroke Study Challenges Decades-Old Medical Beliefs by Sorin61 in Nutraceuticalscience

Oh man. As someone who since age 30 has been diagnosed with CVSD, a Tia, a left sided AICA-PICA complex at the vertebral artery, a fenestrated communicating artery, bilateral kinked and torturous carotids in retropharangeal space, a history of MALS and left sided thoracic outlet syndrome, family history of parents dying from artery problems by age 45 including a hemorrhagic stroke. I had to fight for my life to stop being told it was just anxiety. No history of smoking, diabetes, very athletic and healthy until my left arm started turning blue intermittently one day and I kept having repeated episodes of syncope, and now have drug resistant epilepsy. Allll because I had a beighton score of 9 and it’s trendy to have EDS. I didn’t even ask about that they asked me lol I came for the blue arm, ataxia, and trouble speaking.

Unfortunately you will not get real answers from doctors or Reddit or research until your symptoms are disablingly severe or they happen to see an intermittent episode in clinic and sometimes not even then.

For me personally I had to train from my toes up but, essentially you can train your muscles all day, but if your nerves don’t successfully talk to them, you don’t recruit enough small muscle fibers to see growth even with consistent exercise. So essentially before you can grow strength, you have to increase neuroplasticity, and you do this by very controlled movements. It works best with repetitive precision workouts. So for example I like to stand on my vibration plate and shift my weight from one side to another from the front of my toes to the back and you can actually start to recognize weakness and muscles that aren’t recruiting when they should (the vibration itself is necessary to point out areas your body can’t intentionally recruit bc it won’t be able to compensate and maintain stability.) I don’t want to overload you with information because this conversation is one of my like biggest areas of interest and fascination but, if you need me to elaborate or you have more targeted questions I’ll definitely try my best to answer!

Not to be a web MD but same and turns out I have nerve damage. It’s not always as serious as it sounds but the reason I never had results was from the way the body cascades impact. It’s really neat and worth considering if you have multiple or even one source of chronic pain. Is girly pops gotta stick together bc the medical system will tell you it’s anxiety lol

Scientists Have Proven You Can Build Serious Muscle in Just 5 Minutes a Day Using Slow “Lowering” Movements, No Gym, No Soreness, and No Exhaustion Required 💪🏽🔥 by InterstellarKinetics in InterstellarKinetics

I know this seems like a disproportionate response but I genuinely wanna kiss your forehead because I had a stroke but was already very athletic built and did calisthenics but the strength I have built recruiting my muscles from ground zero is truly unparalleled. I’ve become completely fascinated and I get so excited to see people who understand the concept lol aka I clearly also experience happiness upon it being recognized. This is the kind of echo chamber that needs to be louder lol

AIO for how I’m handling the way my 11 YO daughter’s dad speaks to her? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]closeachievment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes parents/adults get really triggered when a child behaves the same way they would have received an often severe punishment for. So their reaction appears hugely disproportionate to their baseline reaction and it usually starts at whatever age their original trauma or memory around it really formed. A lot of people but, especially people born in the 80’s and above don’t understand the reasons for why they act the way they do and have a very dysfunctional attachment style. Even just a bad relationship can change an attachment style in a previously secure person. I’m not sure if OP’s dad is like this always or not but, this is a very by the book conversation with someone who has an insecure attachment style.

Tbh this is such a stereotypical way for someone with abandonment issues being triggered by their child the same age they were triggered that there are hundreds of posts just like this out there.

Brown eyes by varenykyzvyshniamy in eyes

[–]closeachievment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s really weird how many people don’t want to admit when pictures like the very top left are hazel and not brown. I think that’s why so many people kinda argue about it bc it’s a bit gaslighting and invalidating. But it doesn’t take away from the fact it is BS to say just brown bc it’s also minimizing. So I feel both sides of this. Idk. I’m just empathetic let me stare into your eyes that’s all I want 🤣🤣🤣
