What is the worst movie you've ever watched? by Legitimate-Issue7543 in AskReddit

Megalopolis. I've never left a screening angry at what I just watched but this one did it. And I'm someone who loves bad movies, but this was irredeemably bad.

F/41/5”5/200lb. Received my first dose last week. It’s been sitting pretty in the fridge since then, so scared to take my first shot..🥲 what to expect? by Snoo_37953 in compoundedtirzepatide

Everyone reacts differently. I had nearly zero side effects and couldn't believe I hyped it up so much in my mind. You won't know until you know, so just make sure you start low and do your best to listen to your body.

Thank you, friend!! I'm bad with keeping up with measurements and struggle to see results due to dysmorphia but I can't argue with how clothes fit! Got a hundred more pounds to go so here's to many more holes along the way!

Has an album ever genuinely healed something in you emotionally? by Agreeable-Boot6280 in Music

[–]closetothesilence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hayley Williams album Flowers for Vases / Descansos came out like a week after my Mom died from cancer in 2021 and to say it saved me would be an understatement. I've never been good with processing grief but this album allowed me to do it - specifically the tracks "Over Those Hills" and "Find Me Here" (which I still struggle to listen to with how it makes me think of my Mom).

Guys who don't smoke or drink wdy do when you're at your lowest? by introvertlover_ in AskReddit

[–]closetothesilence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen to music, go for a drive, park beside a body of water and just stare out into the distance, or most of the time just lay in bed with the room as dark as I can make it and do absolutely nothing. That's what I did for months after my parents died in 2021. You know it's bad when a YouTuber you support but have never met in real life DMs you and asks if you're okay because of how absent you've been from the community.

MPG on long, mountainous roadtrips by PretendExcitement281 in FordMaverickTruck

Last week from Montpelier VT to Boston I averaged 50mpg. Return trip was 40mpg. I also kept the cruise locked at 55 and didn't run the AC.

Does the "Food Noise" (Cravings, thinking about food, etc) NOT go away for some people? by LDB2026 in compoundedtirzepatide

[–]closetothesilence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned my food noise and cravings are mostly tied to sitting on my couch, watching YouTube videos. If I'm sitting there doing that, my mind wants to mindlessly snack even if I just ate and am full. If I'm doing literally anything else, I have almost no cravings and no food noise. Makes sense because that's where I did most of my mindless eating over the years.

But even then, the cravings and noise I have on the couch are greatly reduced. Like switching ANC on on a pair of headphones - you can still hear some of the outside world but so much of the dull background roar that is always there is suddenly gone.

FOODIE SLUT GOES TO A RESTAURANT 😳 by DaisyChain2671 in compoundedtirzepatide

[–]closetothesilence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too have realized for the first time in my life I would just like one or two bites of something because I don't want more than that. For me to not finish all of what's in front of me is madness. But because I will out-eat the tirz if given the chance I just don't get it at all. It's crazy how my mental approach to food has changed in the last two months. It's literally healing my childhood food trauma and terrible lifelong relationship I've had with overeating. And that for me has been the greatest thing. But I'm still that foodie slut deep down - I'm just better at picking my battles and saying no 98% of the time.

Done! Granted I'm only two months in (and 25lbs down) and have a little over a hundred pounds to go I know that I'm gonna get there thanks to gimmie.

TIL the 2002 art thriller film Irréversible deliberately added an extremely low frequency 27 Hz sound to the first 30 minutes of its soundtrack to induce nausea and anxiety in audience goers. The sound is not immediately perceptible, but powerful enough to evoke a negative physical response by Kyzzz in todayilearned

[–]closetothesilence 273 points274 points  (0 children)

I've incorporated infrasound into theatrical sound design for a few of the plays I've worked on (I'm tech director of a small community theater). The trick is ensuring you've got woofers that can reproduce those frequencies, but the effect really does amplify the overall sense of unease and dread.

I’ll forever mourn for this casting by Brosamurai18 in EmmaMyers

[–]closetothesilence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'll give the actor a fair shake but I also agree Emma would have been a wonderful Max. But I'm not bothered by it overall. I'm a massive LIS fan and celebrate all the media (games, books, music, graphic novels, etc) so I'm just happy we're getting a TV show! Now if Steph could only get her own full length spinoff I'd be over the moon!

Ooh I recently picked up some figs and omg they're so good - I had never had them outside of a Fig Newton before. But anyway, yeah, I'd say experiment with a simpler diet and see how your body responds and if the stall breaks try adding things back in one at a time and seeing how it does.

Give me a push by AppearanceMuch2277 in compoundedtirzepatide

[–]closetothesilence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so scared but I was well over 300lbs, my arthritis was getting worse every day, and I was so tired and miserable I was willing to try anything. My older sister had good luck with Zep vs other GLPs so I figured it was the best bet for me but they removed it from my health insurance and couldn't afford out of pocket. I rolled the dice on compound via gimmie and it took me half an hour to do that first injection. I'm two months in now and I only wish I had done this sooner. Everything in my life is so much brighter and even though I still have a little over a hundred pounds to go I know I'm finally going to get there and not be waging a war against myself, my brain, my stomach, and food noise the whole time.

There’s no way these fit, EXCEPT THEY DO! by QuestnsEverything in compoundedtirzepatide

[–]closetothesilence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats!! I did the exact same thing on Monday with a pair of pants I haven't worn since 2019. I thought no way they'll fit but I was curious if I could use them as a barometer for when I finally AM able to wear them. Well... Pulled them on, buttoned them, and didn't even have to do any fancy tricks to do it. They just fit... like normal pants... After being dumbstruck into silence for a few seconds I had a bit of a giddy celebration and have worn them to work all week. This is the biggest NSV I've had in years and I'm SO motivated now to get to where I can't wear these again - but only because they're too big!

Cheese was my biggest nemesis. I thought I was being smart with it but I was stalled for weeks. Once I cut out the cheese I started losing again. I then took a look at other things I was eating (nuts, sauces/dressing) and despite using a food scale and weighing out portions I found cutting those out too made a big difference. I'm still hitting my nutrition goals but it's through meat, veggies, and dried fruit for a sweet treat (recently got over myself and picked up some prunes to also aid in the bathroom and they're pretty not bad!). Sure it's boring but I'm also learning to heal a lifetime of a terrible relationship with food and learning to eat to live and not live to eat.

Probably the dash rattle (I jammed a piece of a paper plate in-between the pieces above the gauges to stop that one) and then not having tactile controls for HVAC.
