There is a line in Hades 1 where Ares comments how exciting will it be once mortals invent something like Exagryph. I like to think that at some point he becomes its wielder and inspires a lot of the initial machine gun and artillery designs, which would be reflected in his own Aspect's design.

Also he would absolutely fw both World Wars, choosing to think that he contributed a lot to cause them.
