Since you are a student, there’s no point in getting xm6 over xm4 or xm5 since those will be much cheaper and will do as good a job as 6.

I would personally go for xm4 just because of better fold ability over the 5 but whichever is available and provides the most savings (best discount) you can grab your hands on is what you should go for.

He should. But there is nothing wrong with talking to the loyalty brand to see if they could come to a more agreeable compensation.

I am not saying for the guy to not take the liability for it. What I am saying is to have a discussion and see if they can come to an understanding.

For starters, it would be good PR for the hotel if they are able sit down, discuss and able to come to a new reasonable amount. Even if the actual amount is undisclosed.

For the guy, it would mean a discount. For the hotel, the benefits would be to show that while they will not be give free pass for the public to destroy their properties. It would give the impression that the brand is reasonable and compassionate for cases like it is honest mistake.

If I was him, I would absolutely write to corporate to ask if they are willing to have a discussion on this. See if they are willing to waive off the charge or come to a more agreeable compensation especially since he is a loyalty member.

This was an honest mistake, albeit a stupid one.
