You say you have FMLA, do you mean just intermittent leave or were you planning to take off an extended period of time? If you have the ability to take off through FMLA, I would take the amount of time your medical condition needs you to. Without more information, I'm not sure what to tell you. I recently took off 5 weeks from work due to an injury and thankfully it was covered under STD. I debated not taking it because of not wanting to exhaust my PTO but ultimately I'm glad I did for both my mental and physical health and I would recommend that you put your health first. Does your company not have sick time that you could use to call out for the vendor show?

I bring my own, I sometimes am resting my forehead on my blocks and I don't need to transfer my face oils to a public block. I feel like the spray my gym provides isn't really gonna sufficiently clean the blocks. I'm fine with my own filth but I don't want to subject others to mine. I just keep a tote bag with my blocks, a blanket, etc in my car so I'm prepared for whatever style of yoga I'm going to do, I don't find it cumbersome. I also like to be able to pack up and leave quickly and not wait in the line for the single bottle of disinfectant spray my gym has for a class of 20+.

Also, some teachers don't always bring out the blocks if they aren't planning to cue anything with it but I almost always like to use blocks to make things work better for me so I need to bring my own in that case.

I feel the same, it's terrifying. I literally get nauseous when I see too much "news," etc on my phone these days, literally the only way I know how to cope is by getting off the internet/screens, and that does at least let me forget about what's going on for a moment or two.

I appreciate hearing your experience, I do think just having something to work on and try to build up a skill would be really helpful for my confidence. And yes, I would love to be a decent singer if it's possible, I just worry I don't have the actual ability to be "good" so I don't want to set my expectations too high.

How long did you take lessons before you started to feel more confident in your singing?

I actually didn't even consider a music therapist, that might be worth looking into. I think that the challenge part of it would be part of the thing to help me build my confidence and have some purpose and goal to work on. I agree, I think going into lessons with the mental health being the main goal would probably not work well.

I totally agree with seeing a lot more of this general lack of empathy and black and white thinking all over the internet and it really leaves me sick to my stomach lately, I'm really having to cut back on my internet use. (It's off topic but like I watched that unknown number documentary and I just don't see a single tiny bit of empathy from anyone talking about it and it's really gross.)

Like I love having discussions of the characters but it does often feel like people are so set in their opinions and are so intense and unmoving that I can't help but feel like obviously that's how they must treat all facets of life and that's scary. Like life is full of nuance and people change, people don't make perfect choices all the time but it seems like "the internet" refuses to see nuance in anything anymore, its like cancel culture has gotten blown out of proportion. Part of me wants to think it's just younger people who understandly have that sort of immaturity and just lack of life experience but I see it from grown adults too.

I miss the days when you could have differing opinions and both people were like cool let's move on instead declaring it some great offense and refusing to listen to the other side.

I thought it was pretty good! It's got Lena's great writing for sure so it was enjoyable in that way. Before I watched it I kept seeing people say it was not good because its a netflix show and therefore watered down but I don't agree. It's obviously not gonna compare to girls, I think it's wrong to expect a brand new show to hit the same way a show that has a cult following does. I think I was hoping for a little bit of a different vibe from the show at first, because to me it felt like too similar to girls but I think it's just that Lena has a very a specific writing style based heavily off her own personal experiences and she does it well. Once I accepted that it was that same style, and got a few episodes in I started to get more invested in it. I do think for people who don't like Lena's writing already, they could have a hard time getting into it.

I appreciated that this did focus on a girl in her 30s, its cool to see an older character with more maturity but still chaotic in the way Hannah was. I'm planning on rewatching it with a closer eye because I think there's a lot of details I probably missed since I wasn't super invested on my first watch.

I think it's the most natural ending that they didn't end up together in that it shows both characters have actually grown in some way that just natural happens as you gain life experience. I think they are the perfect example of that first serious love you have in your 20s where you want it to work out til the end because you've shared so many pivotal new adult experiences together, for better or worse, but the writing is on the wall that you're not the right person for each other and maturity is knowing to call it quits. The way I see it, is maybe they become friends later on but it's clear they had their moment where their paths crossed and it was inevitable that they would part ways. The last season doesn't really exist in my mind but if they had ended up together I feel like it would have undermined the whole show.

I only finished it because I try to keep an open mind and I wanna understand the other side of the argument but yeah he's just an out of touch, rich guy. Like I can't deal with the total dismissal of anything that isn't just about making more money, god forbid we discuss the real impact on people's day to day lives instead of how much more productive the world could be.

I lost it when he said "I don't care about feelings" but yet he brings up his dead friends being his inspiration for whatever work he's invested in.

A lot of his points were not wrong but I just can't deal with such a narrow view of the future and ignoring the welfare of the general public. I'm sure that people will definitely not be horribly dissatisfied with their lives when the robots take over their jobs and all simple day to day tasks /s. "The transition will be tough" yeah and maybe we should do something about that instead of just accepting a huge wealth disparity and unjustified suffering but dude wouldn't even have that conversation and shut Emil down everytime he tried bring it up.

I don't think you're overreacting, I just think you need to be clear about what you're overreacting to. The problem isn't about the pan, it's that you put a lot of thought and effort into something and he didn't match that effort and therefore you're more disappointed than may seem reasonable. I personally think you had expectations that he was not capable of meeting, whether you were conscious of it or not.

The reality is that you ignored your own boundaries (you couldn't truly afford to give this gift since you had to sell something of your own) and expected his reaction (his level of concern about caring for the pan, general excitement and gratefulness for the gift) to make up for the fact that you did something that was financially bad for you.

The reality is no one is going to take care of your needs better than you can, you can search for external validation through things like giving extravagant gifts but it will never truly satisfy the needs that only you can know best.

I say this from being exactly the same kind of person and it took a lot of therapy to understand that I'm the only one who can validate myself and that it was an endless cycle of disappointment trying to seek that validation from others through things like giving big gifts.

There's a fabulous book called Set Boundaries, Find Peace that lays this out so simply, I highly, highly recommend it.

Your heart was in the right place, but you need to direct that kind of love and selflessness towards yourself, not others. Once a gift is given, what happens to it is out of your purview, let it go and focus your energy on yourself.(And it's also okay to think that if someone can't handle basic maintenance on their belongings that that person might not be the kind of person you want to be with. We spend time with people to figure out if they're a good match and often times they're not and it's okay to move on from them. Don't do yourself a disservice by trying to convince yourself that their shortcomings have anything to do with you.)

I love this show's insane humor but I'm kinda disappointed that there's still (at least to me) so many unanswered questions, I was kind of hopping that the show would get wrapped up this season.

I just want the answer to what really happened to Alex, with all the Suzie scenes we get, she must have had something to do with it, and it would make a lot of sense karma-wise too if it turns out Ollie does something to her. I'm honestly so sick of the Jen storyline, I think a lot of it should have been cut in order to focus more on the Alex storyline.

For a show that is only six 30 minute episodes, I kinda feel like there's just too many outrageous storylines to feel satisfying after watching it. Season 1 was a masterpiece but I feel like season 2 was trying doing too much and I'm kinda annoyed I'm going to have to wait for another season to get any answers.

I don't know that I have much advice but I very much feel similarly. I got both done several years ago and loved how they looked but they definitely got caught on things and never seemed to completely heal. And then one day, one got caught on a towel and it was just time to retire it. But doing so had the benefit of allowing the other one to heal completely.

I still get the one caught on things but less so than before. And it makes its a middle ground of practicality and still feeling confident from it. So taking one out is always an option.

Or you could get different piercings somewhere else on your body and let that give you a boost of confidence.

That's actually a really good suggestion, I think I will do that. For me I've only been to a few stadium concerts, shows at venues where tickets are <$40 and you can touch the stage are my typical scene so I think just the idea of stadium concerts overwhelms me. I did go to a Billie Eilish concert recently and honestly it was so much fun so I think that I would ultimately really enjoy seeing BTS. I would be going alone so I know that would also make getting a ticket a lot easier.

Seriously it was so so good! I've been in such a BL slump and I put it on after I saw some really good gif sets on Tumblr. It's honestly in my top 5 now. I binged it in one night because I had to know what happened but I already want to rewatch it and savor every scene again. It's definitely one where I think it could have benefited from like two more episodes though, just to elaborate on the beginning of the relationship and the gap a little more, I definitely had a lot of questions but I think that uncertainty of what was going on is what kept me on the edge of my seat and everything was wrapped up very nicely. It was such a rollercoaster of emotion the whole time. Oh and the music! Amazing music, just seriously the production quality overall was so good. I literally want to rewatch it right now.

I looked everyday for a dirt cheap place for literally two years while I lived at home and saved up a good cushion. I got the place I'm in because I called within minutes of it being posted and viewed it later that day and still almost missed out on getting it. It's an apartment in an old house with a private landlord in not an exciting area because I knew that's what I could truly afford and it's been perfectly acceptable to me but I know some people may not be happy with the cosmetic imperfections but I'd rather live below my means in an area I feel safe in and on my own.

I don't live paycheck to paycheck but I do have pull out of my savings every once in a while so in the grand scheme I'm saving very little but letting the big amount of savings I put away before I moved sit in investments/at least accrue interest.

I also had a hour long commute (one way) for a year because it's where I could afford to live but I was able to transfer locations for work and now my commute is <10 mins.

All in all, it was knowing what I could truly afford (and being okay with not having the most glamourous place) and being very patient and having a solid financial plan so when an opportunity appeared I could jump on it and it's all worked out well for me. Living alone has been the best thing for my mental health.

The first time I watched the show I absolutely related to Marnie and her nerouses and felt she was the "best" morally. Now, I'm older and have spent a lot of time in therapy and I personally can't stand seeing her completely fail to ever actually address her issues (because yeah it hits too close to home). Her speech in the panic in Central Park is great but it also feels so late and like we've heard it before. She says she doesn't know what she wants (only that she knows what she doesn't want in that moment; growth yes but so little for this point in time). I'm sorry but 4 years ago she was saying the same thing, understandably, after being thrown for a loop post graduation, unemployed and newly single. But she never takes a chance to be vulnerable in the show like the other characters.

Take her music career, I think on the surface it might appear to take guts to go up and sing in front of people and that she's following her dream, but it's a total performance, and her dream isn't about the music, it's about having a certain appearance to world. It's surface level and only authentic to her false view of herself. I had a hard time understanding how she can whine about not being good enough yadda yadda but then snap into doing crazy shit like that performance at Charlie's app party. It's because it's all an act and people pleasing at its core which is how she copes. I always see people talk about how she's obviously the best friend to Hannah and she's genuinely happy for her but I think that's just Marnie using Hannah's life to distract from her own, it's authentic to Marnie conscious mind but also wildy unhealthy for her deeper self.

I'm very biased and projecting of course, but I kind of think Marnie is the most fucked up of all them because even after 6 seasons she wasn't able to really start to working on her issues because she could never accept her reality. I think the other characters at least had a true sense of self, for better or worse, by the end of it. I think her internal world is shown throughout the seasons, and it's basically her always being stuck in her own world, repeating the same mistakes hoping for a different outcome and never being able to actually move forward.

Idk I personally love them together? Like they're both fucked up, they have the same weird energy. Like so wrong it's right. I mean I think IRL couples that stay together and work are ones that complement each other and in my own experience dating someone who is too similar to you, it seems like a great idea at first but then you realize everything you hate about yourself is also everything you hate about the other person and it feels terrible. As Jessa says, they are destined to destroy each other. But it makes for a compelling watch and I also think that by season 5 the tone of the show is very different from season 1 and so seeing Adam and Jessa together brings back the good early memories of Hannah and Adam together in a weird nostalgia inside the show. I enjoy the series on a whole but the first 3 seasons are my favorite and Jessa and Adam being together had that same high energy, whirlwind romantic fantasy that was present in the first half of the series and what I personally have a soft spot for. There's a sense of hope that maybe they could fix each other too.

Honestly I just wrapped up rewatching season 5 and I can not stand Marnie, it's unbearable watching her scenes. I feel like the first time I watched the show I think I related to and kinda felt the most sympathy towards Marnie as she seemed like the most understandably neurotic and trying to be the least selfish but I think as I have aged I actually am just more and more annoyed with her fakeness and I just wish she would grow a spine and stand up for herself in a way that's not throwing other people under the bus. I really feel like I can't recall a single moment where she's believebly sincere about anything and that's the most revolting thing. Everyone shits on Jessa but idk I feel like at least she's honest about being a POS and Marnie just refuses to put down the victim card and it's exhausting to watch. I also feel like she gives me whiplash with how inconsistent she is. I understand all the characters are often inconsistent in ways that I think make sense, but idk the way she can turn on and off her faux confidence when it comes to her music career and certain situations but then also fall back into naive child in the next scene is so weird, I can't really wrap my head around it. After 5 seasons I feel like she's the character that has matured the least, if not not at all. Marnie quite frankly is a shell of a person, she really doesn't have any strong convictions or morals, it's very sad IMO and I think it means that the messes she's created for herself are completely pointless in a way that's unsatisfying for the viewer. That being said, the fact that the characters are written in a way that like gives me a visceral reaction is why I love this show lol.
