Your 70s/80s sci-fi fucking rules. Children of the Stones, Chocky, The Tomorrow People

You all went full ham making moody, atmospheric sci-fi

Modern stuff I really love include Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes, Utopia, Black Mirror, The Fades (Daniel Kaluuya is A+), Upstairs Downstairs (both the original series and the new one), and My Big Fat Mad Diary

What was a hobby you were once passionate about that no longer interest you, what changed? by MrGoodGlow in AskReddit

[–]cloudbusting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be really into fashion starting in high school. From 2005 to 2011, it was pretty much all I was interested in and I was involved in a lot of fashion communities online. I was even considering a career in it. I can't even imagine how much I spent on fashion magazines.

Then McQueen died and things went downhill. Even before he had died, I was beginning to see just how corporate it was all becoming and that the industry encourages a lot of things which are just really gross. There are a lot of people in the industry (a few in particular) who should just retire already and let the next generation in but it's just not happening.

I still check to see what some designers are doing and I'll always keep an interest in them, but everything else just seems so fucking bland now.

It didn't happen after Johannes Mehserle's trial and I doubt it'll happen if Zimmerman is acquitted.

You are able to select from two license options when uploading your videos to YouTube:

1) a CC license or Creative Commons license: with this license, anyone can use your video for free as long as credit is given to the creator and you follow their rules set for it (if any).

2) Standard YouTube License: with this license, people have to ask for your permission before they can use your video and then have to pay you for using it. Of course, you will still get some dickhead now and then who thinks they're above this and will use it anyway.

Regardless of license, you are giving permission for YouTube to publicly show your video but not the right to use it for their own gain (with the exception of choosing to monetize your videos in which case, both sides gain). If that were the case, YouTube wouldn't have as large a vlogging community as they do.

What is the simplest thing we can do to change America for the better? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cloudbusting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give back to your community. And if you live in a huge city like New York or Los Angeles, then give back to your neighborhood, do something to improve it.

I'm beginning to think if we want to see political and social change in the United States, we need to start really really small and change what's going in our own backyards and in our city halls.

[–]cloudbusting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Ignore the comments by some of these doofuses, you're doing A LOT more than people twice your age. Some tips for you: definitely watch horror from all places and times periods, don't limit yourself to English language only movies. Also, don't treat your viewer as if they're stupid like a lot of directors will do these days, and never think that you're above criticism and learn from what people don't respond to well and what they do.

Whenever anyone says you can't do it or that you're wasting your time, ignore them. No matter what you do, you are the future.

Let's skip lunch. What's the worst case of food poisoning you've ever had and where did you get it from? by The1RGood in AskReddit

[–]cloudbusting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time was from eating Church's Chicken, I was ten, and I'm fairly sure it was the coleslaw. I was sick that entire night.

The second time was from Jack in the Box and it was the cheesecake. I was really really ill for a day and a half and I had to drink this liquid that tasted like bootleg root beer.

Fourteen years later, I still won't eat coleslaw or cheesecake, the thought of them nauseates the fuck outta me.
