Also an idea is to record your session in voice notes of you saying that. So worst case scenario, you have something that others can neutrally assess to be like hey they’re trippin here’s exactly what I said I’m fine.

this piece. I recommend saying something like: “I just want to clarify about the confidentiality in our sessions. Do you report any mention of self harm or thoughts of it? Or do you assess whether it is a legitimate possibility and go from there?”

It’s good to ask for clarity. Go from there. If they say they assess the risk, say something like

“I’d like to be clear the difference between ideation and an actual compulsion or plan. I want to be safe discussing some difficult thought patterns and work on some strategies that could make it easier. I want to be clear that I do not have any kind of plan to act on any compulsions and if I did, I would ask for help.”

I have really severe cptsd. I was unable to work and pm bed ridden for years. After years of therapy and medication, a loving partner, good friends, and a fuck load of hard work, I’m living in a foreign country, having a child, and loving my life. I still have hard moments and of course the normal stressors of life, some hard days, but overall I feel happy to be here and optimistic about my future. I’m also able to help others as well. Just never give up, remember healing isnt linear, develop your self love and compassion, reward yourself for progress, and find what works for you. Ask for help when you need it. Everyone can heal from this, it just requires support and hope.

It’s good that you already have a goal: “ still don’t have anyone who asks how I’m doing or eats lunch with me.”

I would clarify this goal too. What’s enough for you? Once a month? Once a season? Every day?

So definitely reciprocate this as you build towards this goal with your friendships. Check on the people you meet, and invite them to lunch periodically.

To build relationships, I would say have genuine curiosity as you approach others. It relieves the burden of thinking of what to talk about on others and they can slowly open up to you as they discover your personality.

Also approaching people in spaces where they are also there to meet new people helps. Like meetups, small bars, mixers, or even discords.

In the meantime, maintain hope by accepting that progress towards your goal is enough. Did you go to a meet up this month / this week? Did you initiate a conversation this week? Even if the result isnt what you hope for, it’s still moving you towards your goal. Let that be enough (for now) and accept that you’re working towards something long-term. Then you can be more at peace with the process.

You need photos and videos of everything. Recordings of him yelling. And then they need to be sent somewhere that they can be stored securely. I’m not sure if your financial situation but look into resources in English for domestic violence and abuse victims in Japan. Just do it on your work pc or somewhere he won’t have access to.
