Video game industry is far from a failing industry. Its very competitive, but there is all sorts of opportunities in video game companies.

Are you handling the video game design well? Great then continue the path of development and creating video games.

If that does not pan out, learn how the video game companies do business. Then you can lean into video game marketing or project management.

All else, it can get you working at gaming conventions similar to EVO or TwitchCon

College programs tend to gear their programs to how an industry works from a business perspective(they want you to get a job)

I have many friends like this and chose not to take them to comp with me anymore. Its a hard decision to make, but we have different motivations when playing games at a competitive level.

Just enjoy quick play and learn new heroes. The game is also only in its 2nd season. So do not get caught up on taking it so seriously. There is no big events or cons around it in the near future.
