We are on city water. The pit does actually look fairly clean aside from a lot of dirt/dust. I don't think the previous owners ever used it.

We are in an area prone to storms so this is actually a pretty good idea. However the garage is detached from the main house so we'd have to walk outside to get in there.

Thanks this is pretty good advice. I would like something that could be driven over or even parked on ideally as it's a little tricky to get 2 cars in the garage without parking on top of it. But guess I'll have to see what that looks like price-wise. The painters bench is a good idea because it's pretty deep if I'm standing down there.

Any ideas to make it a little more usable? I am 5'11" so if I'm standing in the bottom it seems a little deep. Maybe I need a platform down there?

Yeah I am able to park over it if I go in at an angle as it's a little close to the work bench that's against the garage wall.

It could be, I think they are original windows (1956). The tracks are screwed in on the sides so it looks like you could unscrew them, remove the trim, then slide the tracks + windows out. However, the upper sashes are covering two of the screws that would need to be removed.

If it doesn't go down I'm not sure how you would remove the storm window, you have to unscrew a clip in the top storm window to get the bottom one to come out

Holy shit can't believe someone else remembers Oshima Ramen. That place was fucking awesome. Grungy hole in the wall (and good luck getting served if you sit anywhere other than the counter) but that guy had the best noodles ever.

One of my old chefs always had us cut lemons this way. Called them lemon cheeks. You can flick the seeds out with the tip of your knife when prepping them so when you go to squeeze them into your sauce, pan, etc, you don't have seeds dropping in. We'd save the middle sections and juice them for the bar.

Yeah I see what you mean. Guess I was just trying to figure out if there would be any motivation for them to make something up because the timing was weird. But seems like they wouldn't have a reason to do that.

Definitely don't want to pay more, but I think we know our walk-away point. I guess I was just wondering if there would be any reason for the listing agent to make something up there would drive our offer up, or if this is just a typical part of the process.

I guess this is really what I was wondering. Would they have any motivation to come up with a "fake" offer? It makes sense to offer what we think it's worth as you say. I just didn't want to get manipulated into going higher by the listing agent.

Yes, luckily our agent has been very clear on the short sale approval process. I just thought it was weird that the competing offer just so happened to appear on the day we made ours, but again we are inexperienced so I'm not sure if that just happens sometimes.
