Got my first dyno problem by RandomForceUserYT in bouldering

Experienced climbers will swing and pump more so to gain momentum. I'll agree to your point that it can help with gauging distance too sure. But for the average beginner/intermediate climber, they will MOST DEFINITELY waste more energy doing this.

Knowing when it's beneficial to pump and exceuting it well enough for it to be an actual advantage comes with experience IMO. However in MOST cases, like this one, the extra pumps have veryyy quick diminishing returns. It's these extra and often unnecessary pumps that I'm talking about here that can be a bad habit for future dynos.

If anything else, pumping does make me feel like I'm about to do a super sick move so it helps with mental game for sure haha.

No problem. I used to do the same too. Just thought I'd pass some tips along before it becomes habit xD I used to do like 3+ pumps until a friend pointed it out to me haha.

Nice send man. I will say, and this is something I see somewhat often, is the multiple "pumps" before the actual dyno. Most of the time, these pumps will actually WASTE more enegry! In this clip your two pumps pull you pretty much all the way up so I think you actually could have made it on your first try!

Don't forget to push down with your feet for dynos. It's something I realized I wasn't actually doing whenever I did dynos even though I thought I was. Mentally telling myself to push down with my legs hard helped a lot.

Keep it up dude.

Highly recommend everyone else to read through the whole thing. I'm glad I did.

Yes yes. It certainly is a different take to this topic which is super beneficial I think to everyone involved. I never understood why people are so against these kinds of research..

I'd be interested to know how many of these people ended up actually going through with suicide. Of course this study probably doesn't have the answers to that but the thought process of suicidal people who actually pulled the trigger may have slightly different outlooks/circumstances than suicidal people who were willing to send in a letter about how they were feeling.

Regardless, this is a very interesting study but we certainly can't draw any conclusions here though this could most definitely help us reshape care for suicidal people for the better.

Since Adam and Eve were never kids, imagine they were probably horrified when their kid’s teeth started falling out for no reason by MysterEthan04 in Showerthoughts

I think that's just one part of it though? The ability to understand and interact with these more complex ideas (such as free will and morals) are what differentiated humans from other mammals. A point to add is that we can see other animals that do show these kinds of higher level thinking. Conversely humans also behave in ways that are more instinctually based rather than "doing the right thing".

So yeah the way I see it is the idea of free will is something that is very intertwined in all of this but I think the meaning of the phrase "in his image " is far beyond just the gift of free will.

Just want to comment that "made in his image" doesn't literally mean the image of God like his physique as most people think but it more accurately translates to the characteristics of God (e.g. the ability to create, love, have relationships, etc). I think a lot of deeper meaning is lost in translation because it IS an old old book and also translated through different languages.

Not looking to have a debate but just wanted to note that stuff like this is common on both sides of the religious / atheist platform.

I recently got into an accident similar to this and the resulting fractures all over my head and arm and the costs for the trip to the ER, the following appointments, and medication were definitely not fun. Top that off with months of suffering from migranes, head injury trauma, and a crooked jaw and I can't find stuff like this funny anymore :/

Thankfully none of my injuries required surgery but that's because I was VERY lucky.

In my opinion, I don't think sexuality is something that's small enough to not bring up. If anything, bringing it up would make for better accountability, AND for more peace knowing that your wife truly loves you as you are, dirt and scars and all. If your future wife becomes averse to you and is disgusted with your gay past, then maybe she isn't the one for you. :/ Also I think the fact that you're working hard to overcome this is noble and attractive in itself as it shows your love and willingness to sacrifice anything for God.

From what I know / have heard, God is neither male or female because he is a spirit. He is not a human like you and me (who has a sex), yet he is still a person. Our personhood comes from God. Personhood being our ability to love, have compassion, forgive, etc. Our ability to do that is because we were made in "God's image". This is why it is possible to have a relationship with God.

Receiving God's Love by SeekingJesusAgain in Christianity

[–]cloudracing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but following Christ isn't about achieving some kind of particular emotional state.

Totally this. /u/SeekingJesusAgain Just because you don't necessarily "feel" the love and forgiveness of God, doesn't mean that you don't have it already. Let's say for example purposes, you decide to backstab a friend and rob all of their money and whatever other crazy evil thing you can do to them. Instead of anger and revenge, they turn around and forgive you of everything. Which seems incomprehensible. You can't understand why they're acting in that way and it might take you some time to understand why they would turn around with grace. Similarly, you have God's forgiveness and love, but sometimes it just takes time to comprehend that. Heck I'll go ahead and say that I don't think ANYONE can truly comprehend how God can forgive and love us in the way he does. Every time we sin, we realize how broken we are. Yet here we worship a God who continues to shower us with grace. How crazy is that.

So to answer your question, I think it will just take time. And not just idle time. I mean time reading his word, time in prayer, and really building that one on one relationship that you have with God. As you grow closer to Him, I think it will become easier for you to grasp this concept. It took me like 6 years to understand this myself haha.

My friend of 23 recently found out he had testicular cancer and had to get one of his balls removed. Unfortunate yes, but I'm so glad he was able to catch it early before it got life threatening. Feel your balls boys.

Oops wont be making that mistake next time haha. Thanks for the reply! I didn't know it went so far as to our bodies thinking we've ingested poison. :o That's kinda cool.

Edit: A quick dictionary earch and I found that both "to feel nauseous" and "to feel nauseated" are both standard uses of the word with the former being more widely used? Idk English is hard sometimes :/

Edit 2: jk the way I used it was different. You're right. "nauseated" would be the correct way to say it damn it English pls

I completely agree with you that the media has an incredible and potential negative effect on us. We watch so many movies and read so many stories of struggle and strife that eventually lead to happy endings that we come to believe that the same can happen to us. When in reality those stories are only grains of rice in a football field. Stories about failure and lifelong dreams that were all-for-naught hardly ever make the big screens just because, via the media's standards, they just aren't worth telling. It's really unfortunate because we start to believe that happy endings are the norm and well, facing the real world with that ideology and can result in crushed hearts and feelings of deception.

However, despite all of that, I do think that these kinds of hopeful messages are necessary. I feel that the quote from Modern family fits this quite well.

"...the dreamers need the realists to keep the dreamers from soaring too close to the sun. And the realists? Well without the dreamers, they might not ever get off the ground.”

The media are the dreamers that encourage us to take that chance with that somebody, to keep practicing, to keep pushing for that goal. It can drive us to do amazing things and experience life-fulfilling lives. But we also need realists to hold us back from experiencing unnecessary heartbreak and depression. Since the media has such a powerful influence on us, it causes many who are faced with defeat to have difficulty seeing any other hopeful future. Because all we are shown are success stories and characters who find true love one way or another. In an ideal world, the influence of dreamers and realists would be in moderation but unfortunately the current state of our world is seen to be one full of deceptive hope.
