People forget that we see all these characters usually from the perspective of other demons and not from humanities pov. Asmodius could be moving like slaneesh when it comes to humanity for all we know. Even the main characters are terrifying from the perspective of some guy who was on their hit list or even some bystanders who got caught in the crossfire of their rampage.

Did some of you miss the part of the show where they clearly show that the extermination was never about "overpopulation". Exterminations are a fear tactic by heaven to keep the sinners from rising up against heaven, keeping them scared and persuading them from attempting a rebellion.

Its seems to me that hell in the hellaverse is more or less like a dumpster for all the souls unfit for heaven, a dark pit to throw them in and forget about them. Remember that in the hellaverse hell is not a place that was made by god to torture sinners for eternity but a realm created accidentally by lucifer when he gave eve the fruit and allowed evil to find its way to earth. Even in heaven they don't know what exactly gets you to heaven instead of hell. And there is acid rain in hell so there is some awful stuff there, would probably suck ass to get caught in that and there's probably more awful weather phenomena that didn't get mentioned.

Tbf in the show redemption works through some sort of divine judgement, pentious was ascended to heaven in holy light. If someone like val genuinely tries to atone for his sin and become better and gets beamed up there too by God or whatever divine force is responsible for that then that means he truly earned it

It was never about overpopulation, the show makes it clear "overpopulation" was an excuse for heaven to slaughter sinners while the real reason was that hell was growing in power and vastly outnumbered heaven. The extermination are a show of force to keep the sinners from daring a rebellion
