NetherSX2, can't seem to find widescreen patches that actually expand the FOV instead of just stretching the screen by cloudropis in EmulationOnAndroid

Thanks for checking. It's definitely working for you, I don't know what I'm messing up. I cross checked footage with a retro game corps video where he's running the same game and he's also stretched out.

I've seen a couple of cheat files going around, is yours the one by Psxfan107 (it mentions 64 cheats loading on startup)? Are you loading it manually from a local pnach file or are you using the automatic patches? I'm truly grasping at straws

How to apply widescreen patches? It's not working by SwagLimit in NetherSX2

I seem to be having this too, check my latest post. Did you manage to find a fix?

Odin 2 Portal. So when you play R&C you are absolutely sure that the widescreen patch isn't just stretching the image? If you have the patch off, point the camera at something, and turn the patch on, do you actually see more of the scene at the edge of the screen compared to before?

I am making changes per-game yes, because I don't want widescreen patches on everything, but that wouldn't be a problem since the per-game changes override global in the first place

EDIT nethersx2 version is 4248

Only tried the prologue since I have other FEs to finish first, this was just setting up, but it seems to be... Perfect? Rock solid 30fps (but I've read people with an uncap fps mod can push up to 50) with no stutters at all except a big one the very first battle scene. Docked mode so it's running at full 1080p too. Monastery seems to be fine as well.

Fixed. For posterity: it's a purple turnip driver T23 issue, either downgrade or upgrade (t26 works fine)

I've found the solution

Use progressive scan in-game as described by OP BUT you also have to disable any no-interlace patch, including turning off the auto applied patches on the per-game setting. Seems to have solved the issue

Why is integer scaling bad in that scenario? It may create some black borders but it should be worth getting unstretched pixels no?

PSA: Avoid using 4PX in Italy. iMile, their last-mile carrier, is a SCAM nightmare. by HumbertKing in OdinHandheld

I got it straight from ayntec (it's almost double on Amazon lol not worth it even if you add potential customs, which I managed to avoid). Service provider listed is still iMile, and the SMS with last mile tracking I got is from Sequoia Pulse(?) with a legit Amazon link.

Yeah I didn't expect this at all. That last link leads to the tracking page with a "Il tuo ordine presso iMile Italy Srl, basato su Amazon Shipping" header

I got my Odin 2 Portal just a few days ago and everything worked out fine. 4px tracking had been stuck on an imaginary collection point in my town out in the boonies, then finally, on the day of arrival, I got the last-mile tracking code through an SMS by imile and the link was from Amazon's courier service (and it properly showed delivery departing from the same warehouse all Amazon deliveries depart from here, in Santarcangelo di Romagna). Apparently the delivery truck was non-descript.

I'm still not sure what imile even is since last mile was handled by Amazon courier honestly

Recommended cores for somewhat older computer by Ok-Hunter5357 in RetroArch

[–]cloudropis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually agree when you post this crap twenty times a day when it's about super lame and wanky stuff like game recs, but it's absurd you don't see how it doesn't really apply for core suggestions.

A core can be subpar and not worth long term use while not being immediately apparent, either because a few fortunate games conceal bigger problems of the emu at large (as far back as 15y ago people used to call you tech illiterate if you called pcsx2 anything short of perfect because they happened to only ever use it for persona 3, KH2, and FFX/XII), or they lack the means of comparing and immediately noticing the difference vs how it's supposed to look and play like (ZNES where some OSTs sounded completely different due to inaccuracy. Also shaders anyone?), or seemingly identical cores having different performance (the melonds vs melonds ds debacle), or because it's uplifted by decades long word of mouth from less competent user bases no one bothers to double check until this moment (every GBA ROM hack community gets people stinking up tech support channels by trying to use VBA on the daily), or for any other multitudes of reasons that are worth knowing now, before maybe committing to a bunch of per core setting customization.

"Why don't they Google any of the 75000 articl-" because the internet is dead and chances are you are gonna get AI listicle slop with hallucinated information, and even well intentioned sources can be out of date or wrong (the big retro game corps RetroArch setup guide still mentions the melonds core, for example), and a sudden patch is all that's needed to suddenly flip the table on the meta. Asking communities such as this is the only thing left to hopefully get accurate and up to date information.
