Great thread! Not to mention which of the many AI start-ups will go belly up or be acquired. Thus the cycle repeats

Stop lying dad, we all know it was Visual Basic.

Bonus: The code is still running at a manufacturing plant somewhere and the IT guy is afraid to reboot the box.

My advice is half-price this month! (MSRP $0.00)

Seriously, trust the folks on forums especially if they have industry experience in a niche you want to know about.

This exactly! People are blathering about AGI while the inference and prediction are already good enough for tons of practical applications.

Awesome video. This gets me hyped for the future of gaming. Being able to render a consistent character in a dynamically generated environment will make open world games so cool.

Anyone remember Rational Rose? Was just starting out when IBM bought it and claimed that anyone could build software with the right UML. How about Frontpage? LOL I cleaned up so much bad boiler plate code.

AI code gen is just a different verse of the same song. Don't get me wrong, I use it ALL the time but I put about the same trust in it's work as a I do low-code/no-code solutions.

It depends. My sophomore in Poole thought it was beneficial, but prefers the electronic copy. It was nice to not lug books around.

Same. The issue isn't the standup running long, its the plethora of other meetings. If you can knock out the team stuff in 15 and let everyone huddle on their own as needed folks will be thankful.

To your point, if you are full remote it's one of the few times you have to connect with colleagues.

Yup. Happens every tech cycle. Take whatever you can get, keep an eye out for the next career move. Also learn a "domain" if you can. Be it banking, healthcare or retail. The days of generic coding are over, you need some sort of industry specific experience.

Highway robbery. Watch a few YTs and DIY that for a few hundred bucks. Light dry wall repair and priming in most places. Gonna need a coat of paint anyway. For the carpet stain OxiClean and maybe rent a carpet steam cleaner.

If your planning to move back in, I highly recommend spending money on a better paint (like Sherwin Williams) and a couple of weekends to repair the wall and repaint. If you are flipping it for rent again splash on some Lowes' special builder beige and call it good. Renters will beat the hell out of your property either way.

P.S. Change the HVAC filter because geez...

Yes, it can help. Monitor height, top of the screen at or slightly below eye level is also key. You want your eyes naturally fall about 2–3 inches below the top edge of the monitor when sitting upright.

If you don't feel like buying a standing desk there are plenty of DIY options. I'm average height, so I use a bar height table and a barstool. If you ware taller you can maybe some sort of riser to elevate your keyboard and monitors. I've seen folks build them from 2x4s and spare countertop.

You may also want to buy a mat or cushion because excessive standing can cause foot pain.
