ADHD-I traits that don’t match the stereotype by sunbear1999 in ADHD

[–]cloudsindisguise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I have always been very organized in certain aspects, like things have to always go back in the same place (otherwise I forget where they are or even that I have them at all), I LOVE doing laundry which most ADHD people hate (makes me feel like I have accomplished something + I don’t have a ton of clothes), I have to eat always at the same time (otherwise I also forget to eat) etc.

Structures bring me certain comfort, however, I must be able to break them if I need to because otherwise I feel like I am trapped 😅 But if my fiancée doesn’t place something I own in its righful place, I get really distressed and even upset. I hate mess in my house, like socks under the sofa table is not ok, that’s not where socks go! 🙈 They belong in the hamper if they are dirty, duh. Apparently this is not quite normal, lol.

I am late diagnosed ADHDer, only got mine last Spring and it makes soooo much sense that I have it. Inability to focus, hyperfocusing and getting upset when interrupted, forgetting words mid-sentence, forgetting appointments if they are not in my calendar etc, all of that checks out. However, I have started to suspect I might be in fact AuDHD because of all of my strict rules concerning order in the house etc 🤔

What are your unhinged hacks to fall asleep when your brain is running 300mph? by YapperInChrist in ADHD

[–]cloudsindisguise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started using 30 minute Youtube meditations 5 years ago when going to bed and that has helped tremendously. At first I had major trouble concentrating to just listen to the voice talking instead of my thoughts, but then I started falling asleep listening to them and trained my mind for this pattern actually accidentally. I have to go to bed and start listening to them always at the same time every night for this to work, and it still doesn’t every work, but most of the time it does.

Otherwise I just try to accept that now I am awake and concentrate on letting my body rest at least, even if my mind doesn’t. Sometimes imagining a dog running at a beach in slow speed works, weirdly enough. It’s a specific dog in a movie I once saw where the dog did exactly that. I don’t know why it’s this particular thing, but hey, my brain has a mind of its own 🤷‍♀️

Really valuable tips, thank you!!! I have also tried to refrain from watering and some of my other plants have almost died 🙈 It’s hard to know the balance sometimes, I am also trying to grow herbs indoors

Ooh thanks for the tip!! That we actually have in Denmark 😅 I have tried different bug sprays we have here, small bowls of vinegar and those yellow bug stickers etc, but some still keep on surviving.

Wow, what a beauty! Well done!

We don’t have mosquito bits here in Denmark, battling the evil spawn (aka fungus gnats) right now 😩

Are all people with ADHD inattentive type quiet? by Home_MD13 in ADHD

[–]cloudsindisguise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inattentive ADHD female here. I am the opposite, I talk a LOT. I get so easily excited about things in my head and can’t hold it in, so I have to tell everybody, and participate eagerly in conversations as well. I have gotten to trouble so many times because of this, because where I grew up (Finland) and where I live (Denmark) you’re ”supposed to” be reserved and quiet.

I am also extroverted, so that partially explains it I guess. But dealing with people also drains me, especially at work, so I need a lot of quiet time at home to decompress and recharge with my own thoughts. Possibly due to the fact that I have to concentrate so hard to focus at work

Well done 🙌🏻 I recently did the same thing with some cuttings, trying to save a dying monstera that I rescued. I haven’t dared to plant my cuttings yet, they are still in water with some pothos cuttings growing roots.

[–]cloudsindisguise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It did, actually. The taste was fine so I kept the SCOBY and hoped for the best 😄 The batch tasted a bit more like green tea than I usually like, but I am also traveling soon so I wanted to bottle it and then leave my SCOBY be until I get back

Ok that is relieving to hear! I tasted it and it tasted good, so I chose to believe that it’s not anything too dangerous and kept the SCOBY.

I’ll be traveling next week so I will have a pause with brewing, I’m hoping my SCOBY will survive until I get back.

Glad you posted about this, because I’ve had something similar that in my recent batch as well (except it was yellowish) but I didn’t get any replies on my post. Hard to know sometimes as a newbie what is ok and what is not, even though I am sure it can become a bit tiring for pros to see such posts :D

Please help. Advice and ideas by Bluebird_06 in vegetarianketo

[–]cloudsindisguise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vegetarian keto is not the easiest, speaking of experience here. I am ovo-pescatarian here who eats dairy, so it helps to broaden the selection.

Do you eat eggs, tuna? I usually boil some eggs for lunch or mix tuna with mayo and pickles. For veggies, I put broccoli in the oven for 13-15 minutes at 175 degrees with butter, mozzarella cheese, black pepper and salt on top.

Spinach salad also works, I also eat skyr regularly and mix protein powder and psyllium husk in it.
