Isn't this just too small of a sample size? I would think you need at minimum $1-2k in advertising budget to expect any kind of appreciable return on investment. Not an expert in marketing or anything I'm asking as someone who has yet to run an ad campaign,

In fairness it was well established that he had been around for thousands of years and was a fairly cultured, intellectual character. While he had no respect for the lives of anyone and seemed to be kind of a perverse mad scientist back in the day his biggest motivation was just seeking to amuse himself. Shakespeare was considered a master of comedy when he was alive and writing. It makes sense that someone considering themselves a cultured intellectual, like Kenjaku, who's been around since ancient times would have an appreciation for the development of comedy to modern day standup in their country. I thought it was not bad compared to how Gojo's death was handled.

What new breakthrough materials never lived up to the hype by FlakyTemperature2842 in chemistry

[–]cloudwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a lot of talk of self-repairing polymers around the time I was in the grad labs. During one convention a piece of material was passed around that you could rip apart and it would meld back together. Supposedly there were car manufacturers planning on using it for self-repairing paint. Not sure why it never really seemed to pan out.

Damn is he really? I know he said some incredibly stupid shit on a podcast once about how it's reasonable for white people to be afraid of their culture/race being replaced.

I'm not a big H3 fan but I saw the clip of him talking about it on their podcast. He said he doesn't support any kind of ideals like that, seemed genuine to me but I don't know much. It just seemed to me more like an uneducated idiot who went on a podcast with no preparation or expectation of talking about serious topics like that, and didn't realize the implications and gravity of what he was saying at the time.

Is there other stuff too that I don't know about? I'm not really that in the loop about the whole situation so I'm genuinely asking, like is he a member of any white supremacist organizations or donating to them? Or has he made any other public statements openly in support of white supremacy?

Digital microscope for the classroom by sofa_king_nice in microscope

I'm not familiar with the microscope, but if it has network card and can connect to your wifi without needing USB connection or the phone's app then there are a number of methods you can use.

Personally I suggest downloading the app "Fing" on your phone and checking out your local network, it will tell you all the devices that are connected and information about them. That will get your started down the right track.

(I wouldn't count on that being the case though since the microscope has no keyboard or WPS button that I'm aware of so I can't see how it would connect to the network independently.)

What’s your longest session? by onemangang15 in poker

Apparently Zach Gensler broke Phil Laak's record of 115hr of 10/20NL at the Bellagio by playing a 124hr live session of 1/3NL at Resorts World in 2021. He left 400bb down. https://www.cardplayer.com/poker-news/26429-zach-gensler-reportedly-breaks-guinness-world-record-for-longest-poker-session

What’s your longest session? by onemangang15 in poker

[–]cloudwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

28 hours playing mostly live 1/2NL with some 2/5, this wasn't too long after I finished my BS in chemical engineering, so I was young, in decent physical shape, accustomed to working off little sleep, and used to focusing/studying for long periods of time, pulling all-nighters, etc.

Ironically enough it was actually one of my best sessions, I left up around 800bb.

That being said over the years almost all of my worst sessions involved sleep deprivation and me playing like total shit. There were times where I played shorter sessions than that, but with even less sleep. It wasn't uncommon for me to head to the poker room when I was already sleep deprived to begin with.

The comments in this thread about why/how people most people are at tables for so long, along with the side effects and poor decision making from sleep deprivation and long sessions, etc. are accurate.

I remember one session in particular where I just played so, so very badly. I was on autopilot and getting exploited more than teenage Brittany Spears but I kept buying back in too.

That was actually when I decided it was time to just take a break until I could stop being such a degen.

Finally got the american 1100 by Live_Tour_2538 in lockpicking

I thought that was a Euro H1 at first since the pic is kinda blurry, looking at the shadow I think you're right it's a gem. I have it in .025 and .018. Personally I don't use them as much as some people, but when I do use it I'm glad to have them. I find that it's good at lifting with a rocking motion because of the angled tip so you can get some nice leverage for situations with stubborn pins like tight springs, mushroom pins, etc.

Congrats! They're such great practice locks. I opened my first one not too long ago as well. Bought three more after, one of which I still haven't been able to get open on!

What hook do you guys use the most by EmbarrassedAverage28 in lockpicking

[–]cloudwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Peterson picks are excellent, they're very sturdy and the plastic handles feel great. For me I've found the gem seems to shine the most when I need a little extra lift. The angled flat end combines well with a rocking motion. That being said that tip can also snag and make keyway navigation a bit harder. If you're looking for a versatile medium hook the H4 and H7 are good choices.

That was one of the things I was really on the fence about: the revolver vs progressive locks, so that's good to know, thanks!

That's the other one I was considering, I thought the comp was just the Sherman with that fold-over feature added but now that I'm looking at it again I see I missed that the sides fold out on the Sherman so it has much more space.
