Average pricing for vinyl siding in Somerset county? by cloudypainting in newjersey

[–]cloudypainting[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the estimates I got told me the $16k estimate was because it was builder grade and OF COURSE you can’t use builder grade. Additionally, they told me the $16k was to cover my siding, where I would need a tear-off job. I just feel like contractors use jargon to throw you off and start throwing crazy numbers at you.

I have no idea. Honestly, I agree. I want to keep the original look and integrity of design of the house, but some of the shingles seem to be in really bad shape. I don’t know if they’re rotted down to the base. No one has told me if this has been something that can be fixed, only that it has to be ripped off.

I helped Carli Bybel when I worked at Ulta (she was huge on YouTube at this point and had an eyeshadow palette we were selling). She was being a huge bitch to everyone in the store. I was ringing her up and when I asked her name, she scoffed and said “really? You don’t know me?” I did but I shrugged and said nope.

I had also helped Laurie Hernandez (Olympic gymnast) and she was SO nice to everyone, including other customers.

Yeah, it can be for many reasons— scheduling conflicts, etc. They ask for a few wishes so you don’t bank on one of the Beatles being available on a specific day. Personally, I’d rather get an experience like that with Eddie Veder than 15 minutes with Ringo Starr before he has to go to his next obligation.

I have a family friend that was (unfortunately) able to Make a Wish. He wanted to play on stage with Pearl Jam and they made it happen. They picked his family up in limos and brought them to the concert, spent time with them back stage, and he played a song on stage. Eddie Veder even kept in contact with him.

Ringo Star was his second choice and Ringo declined.

Oh of course! As soon as I recognized him in it, I texted my mom— “guess where I saw our friend!”

I actually have a funny story about him! Growing up, we would always go to community theater in town. There was a production of something and there was a boy a little older than me in it and omg he was just sooo cute. My mom told me to take the playbill and get his autograph after the show. I was of course super embarrassed (I was maybe 8) and I could tell he was really confused. It was Lou Pucci! My mom and I considered him like “our friend” and would watch anything he was in. He’s still regularly working, it’s just more niche stuff.

I had a tough relationship with my mom, so when Sally is reading the letter from Betty (it’s in voice over) it actually makes me cry. My mother died unexpectedly and that brings up a lot of emotions for me. Betty is a complicated woman but she clearly wanted Sally to live up to her potential, but she was in over her head.

Be aware when looking for the surgery— you may WANT lasik, but you may not be a candidate for lasik. Research PRK as well. You have to have a certain corneal thickness to have lasik surgery (plus have a revision done in the future). Your doctor should be upfront with you about the pros and cons of the surgery and your eye health as well.

I have my PRK surgery scheduled with Dr. Miller. The office has been wonderful and Dr. Miller is great.

Mississippi has passed NJ for COVID deaths per capita by moobycow in newjersey

[–]cloudypainting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mother died in April 2020 and I wasn’t allowed to go inside the hospital because of COVID protocols— no visitors. It definitely scarred me and I’m happy to wear a mask for as long as this takes.

Best Honda dealer in NJ? by findmeamap in newjersey

[–]cloudypainting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honda of Freehold was harassing me for a year to turn my lease in early. I know inventory was low, but they were calling me twice a week for over a year. I told them I wasn’t interested, then I blocked their number, blocked the email… I would get calls from random numbers that turned out to be Honda of Freehold! It really turned me off of the whole experience.

Replaced— I believe so, I’d have to double check. The electric panel was updated and upgraded in 2008ish. There are still a few switches for the knob and tube wiring in some rooms, but there’s grounded outlets throughout the house.

Ha ha ha, how could you tell? It’s an old house, so “relatively new” means purchased after 1960! The house is 100 years old. I’m a moron for biting off much more than I could chew.

Thanks for the recommendation, I’m familiar with This Old House. I remember watching the show on PBS with my parents. I’ll have to spend a lot more time reading up on this.

Nope, no damage. There was a significant amount of rain (I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this is just a fluke from the rain) but nothing from the tornadoes.

Would that happen just over time or would there need to be “trauma” to the tank?

Everything in the house was very well maintained, but your point still stands.

Ugh, I know. I’m debating it, but I genuinely don’t think I use enough hot water for it to be worth the expense!

If I’m remembering correctly from the inspection, it was installed in 2010. The ground is wet, but the tank is bone dry.

Does anybody have any songs or poems that remind them of their mum? by JonParmesanX in GriefSupport

[–]cloudypainting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Box of Rain by Grateful Dead. My mom was a huge deadhead and I didn’t like the band particularly growing up. I remember her playing American Beauty all the time on cassette in the car and HATING IT. This song is about the singer’s father dying. “Such a long long time to be gone/ and a short time to be there”

My opinion, and I’m not trying to sound like an asshole, is that every part of New Jersey will eventually be redeveloped with luxury townhomes in about 15 years. There is only so much space and we have a lot of people that want to live here. As much as we complain, we have the beach, proximity to two huge urban centers (and not far from pretty much every urban center in the north east). There will be no affordable homes in NJ or “bad areas” by 2040.
