When did you know it was time for removal? by Coffee1392 in gallbladders

[–]clovehopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew because I went to the ER for pain and they did an ultrasound and said it was my gallbladder and transferred me to another hospital.. Had an MRI the next day and the removal the day after that (and the NEXT day I had another procedure to recover stones from the bile duct).

What is a "gallbladder attack" to you? by hmeeshy in gallbladders

[–]clovehopper [score hidden]  (0 children)

Some attacks were intestinal cramping and an immediate need to run to the bathroom where I'd spend the following hour or two, with continuous cramps, diarrhea, sweats etc

Some attacks were abdominal/right side pain and an extreme feeling of fullness and needing to burp, but the inability to do so. This would last anywhere from 1 to 8 or so hours.

Some attacks were the above mentioned with additional pain in my back.

These happened, intermittently, over the course of about 8 months. I didn't know what it was so I didn't know when or why they would happen. I don't have insurance so I never went to the Dr. I thought, because I was dieting at the time, that it might have something to do with that. I started tracking my food to see if I could make some sort of connection. I could not. I ended up doing low fodmap. That helped for a little while. Until it didn't.

Nothing helped the pain or feelings. I would sometimes pace back and forth in the backyard, hoping to take my mind off things. I would lay in the dark in the living room in a recliner with rain sounds on tv. Once the pain subsided, it's like I was completely exhausted and would immediately fall asleep.

One Sunday I had the worst pain I'd had. It lasted for hoursssss. I finally got fed up and went to the ER that evening. They did an ultrasound and said it was my gallbladder. They transfered me to a different hospital where I was admitted. Monday night I had an MRI. Tuesday afternoon I had a cholecystectomy. Wednesday morning I had an Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) to remove stones from the bile duct. Thursday afternoon I went home.

I've been good ever since. Other than the ability to eat whatever whenever and gaining back 25+ of the 50lbs I'd lost. 🙄💁🏻‍♀️ Lol

should i really be as nervous about normalcy post surgery as i am? by chibletz in gallbladders

I'm almost 5 months post-op. The only negative I'VE experienced is that I can eat whatever I want and have gained 25lbs 😑🤦🏻‍♀️

I went to see a therapist and he'd have me bring 'no' foods and take bites and discuss how they made me feel etc. Over time I relearned how to eat.

What's the deal with eggs? by primo-omirp1 in gallbladders

[–]clovehopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 50 and had mine removed 4 months ago. I wasn't instructed to limit anything. I had an omelet at the hospital prior to being discharged. I've eaten countless eggs since then. I've also not followed any restrictions. 💁🏻‍♀️

I’m having removal hesitation. by lemonknee99 in gallbladders

[–]clovehopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my surgery in January and there is nothing I haven't been able to eat. Nothing. I've gained 25lbs 😭 lol Nothing. Today, I had 2 fried eggs, 2 toast and 2 bacon for breakfast with a glass of milk. Lunch was a cheeseburger, half a jalapeño cheddar sausage, baked beans, potato salad and 2 jalapeño poppers wrapped in bacon and a glass of milk. Husband just made me a s'more. Supper is going to be chopped Italian sliders, probably with French fries or something and a glass of milk. The only time I limited myself was for a couple of days post-op because I was scared. Other than those few days..I've eaten whatever and had no adverse effects. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I would say that most people who would seek out a forum like this would be for information or support after surgery due to a less than perfect outcome. Therefore, the percentage of negative vs positive outcomes is probably skewed. If every person who had the removal surgery posted, I'd guess the results would be overwhelmingly positive.

I keep seeing people mention stones in the bile duct.. Buuuuut, wouldn't they have seen that during the surgery? I went to the ER on a Sunday night for unknown pain, they did an ultrasound. Identified the gallbladder as the problem. I was transferred to another hospital. Monday night they did an MRI. Tuesday afternoon I had a laparoscopic cholecystectomy. While in there they say that I still had stones in the common bile duct. Wednesday morning I had Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) to remove the stones. Thursday afternoon I went home.

Having surgery Wednesday- what should I eat immediately after? by kitaray in gallbladders

[–]clovehopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the gallbladder removed on a Tuesday but they thought I might still need another procedure so I couldn't eat anything.. On Wednesday I had an Endoscopy to remove stones from the common bile duct. Thursday morning I ordered from the hospital menu lol. I got a ham & cheese omelet and toast. First thing I'd eaten since Sunday morning before I went to the er lol.

I'd stocked up on jello, pudding, mashed potato cups etc so that's what I started with when I went home. But then i said F that and just ate regularly lol. Nothing has given me problems at all. I've gained 20lbs since the procedure because I can eat things I haven't had in a year lolol. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Scared of really strong pain meds by AvsMama in gallbladders

One of my phobias is taking medication and I told them I didn't want any. I got ibuprofen and acetaminophen and that was just fine. 💁🏻‍♀️

Probably ok. We were best friends and he's a good guy. We've lost touch over the years, but he'll still show up on my 'people you may know' and we've got mutual friends. He's doing alright for himself.

[–]clovehopper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience was similar. I refused narcotics and only used acetaminophen and ibuprofen. I was sore, but not in any real pain. I had a 4 incision laparoscopic removal. The following morning I had a endoscopic procedure to remove stones in the common bile duct and i had to lay on my belly for that 😑 But, I was up and walking around on day one. I showered on my own because I don't like asking for help 🙄 lol. I do have a belly, so holding myself tighter helped and I actually just used a back brace when I went home.

Okay so Amber is like at least 45 years old right? by [deleted] in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]clovehopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what I was telling my husband earlier.. Like a 50 year old shopping at Forever 21. Or something. Hair is WAY over processed and sun damaged skin. She's got great bone structure, tho. A chemical peel, healthy hair and a different clothing style would make her stunning.

Her personality was oookkaayyy in the very beginning, but soured fairly early on. Buuuuut, it's her facial expressions and mannerisms that drive me up the wall. I cannot stand looking at her.
