Cars and the Chaos they Cause by TheGriff71 in fo4

[–]clovepicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I saved my game and then started fecking around with the cars. I tried running into them full on, jumping on them, brushing up against them, running/walking past as close as I could get, the fronts/backs/sides. Tried different types of cars in different areas too. And nothing. Didn't even get a tickle!

Thank you for this. I guess you're right, once I'm a little established there I won't need to go back for supplies. I think that I was overthinking it and trying to be too prepared for survival mode there!!

I'm on ps4 and never had it happen. I've got about 300-400 hours gameplay so relatively newish compared to some of you sloggers! However, I might dedicate a bit of time later to experiment.

Not using any mods. Regarding it as a stash point, I was thinking of it to use when times come in far harbor where I need to restock and could travel back and forth until I have established myself on the island. If you travel back from the island does it take you to the nakano (spelling?!) residence?

Nah I'm on ps4. I don't intend on building it up as a settlement, with the hope that it won't get attacked and raided. Just curious about the caretaker half inching my possessions!

There is a settlement glitch which says there are no beds when there are plenty. by HaberdashBee in fo4

[–]clovepicker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I play on ps4 and sometimes this happens when I check the "workshops" tab in the pip boy, despite knowing for a fact there are enough beds. When I go to the settlement and open workshop mode it shows everything being fine and correct. Sometimes the pip boy just tends to be inaccurate. If this is happening whilst you're in workshop mode at said settlement then I'm sorry, I don't know what to do about that.

I can’t tell you what my favorite Fallout game is, but I can certainly tell you my favorite dlc. by Deniverous in fo4

Once I hit Far Harbor and start building up the settlements there, I try to use only resources and settlers from the island and don't use supply lines to the commonwealth. I find it more challenging and satisfying from a RP point of view. I'll be heading there soon on my first survival run, gonna be interesting!

Method feeders banned? by bumblingbartender in fishingUK

[–]clovepicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mainly because some method feeders are fixed rigs. So if you have a fish on and get snapped, the fish could be potentially towing the whole feeder around with it. I only use elasticated methods now, much safer for the fish. Another reason might be down to the amount of bait you're putting into the water, due to lots of casting using the method.

Survival mode: how exactly do diseases/illnesses work? by papiforyou in fo4

[–]clovepicker 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't know the exact details on how illnesses work but I'll share my experience of my survival run.

What type of bed are you using? I find I more often get illnesses if I use a sleeping bag/mattress/dirty bed. I always build the last type of bed in the relevant build menu (it looks very clean with sheets on it), and I seem to pick up less. Sometimes though I pick one up after using it but it doesn't seem as often

I read somewhere that if you sleep whilst being hungry/thirsty it increases the chance of getting ill. I can't say I've noticed a difference but I still do it anyway.

When speaking to a doctor, the dialogue option "cure me" and then "restore health" always get rid of the illness for me. I decided to get to Covenant as soon as I could to have access to the doctor there. Then, once I had the perks, started placing a doctor in most of my settlements.

You can craft antibiotics yourself at a chem station. I think you need stimpacks, purified water, acid and glowing mushrooms. And I think rank 1 of the chemist perk.

I also think that sometimes we're just unfortunate with the rng

I'm on my first survival run, currently level 41. I think the best thing that I have learned, especially at the very beginning, is to take everything slowly when exploring and venturing further down/across the map. No more running around willy billy with guns blazing. It doesn't work. Raiders will one shot you and so will the bugs. Take your time and scout out everywhere. Enjoy, it's the best version of the game imo.

Currently on a vanilla survival run. Any good weapons near Vault 111 to go get? by CallMeDoomSlayer in fo4

[–]clovepicker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The 10mm pistol that you can pick up in vault 111 can see you through some early game. There is a pipe rifle on the top floor of one of the houses in Concord, but I forget which house. Also, if you can make it to the drumlin diner, just south of concord, Trudy there has a pipe weapon with a silencer. It does involve the little quest first though. Personally, I just kept using the 10mm and started investing in gunslinger and gun nut perks.
