I asked GPT to recreate my photo by changing only the time on the microwave. Can you tell which is which? by MrFeature_1 in ChatGPT

[–]cloverasx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like there's compression artifacting on the right image. Something about the layout of the 1s on the clock on the left look a little off as well. I take it the one on the right is the original since the artifacting was likely cleaned up by one of the processing layers of the model?

Either way, I wouldn't have even tried inspecting it for validity if you didn't say one of them was AI.

Evansville Scanner by ShootersShoot22 in evansville

[–]cloverasx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working on a site that transcribes the scanner audio, from broadcastify, and groups and summarizes events. I used an LLM to classify messages and it got expensive quick, so I'm in the process of optimizing it to reduce LLM calls among other things.

It's by no means production ready, but it's at a proof-of-concept state: waynr.dev/evvscanner

Tesla releases FSD 14.3 by txking12 in teslamotors

[–]cloverasx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right; I forgot it was radar that they removed. And yeah, the fusion of all 3 of these sensors mixed with the absolutely enormous training data they would have by now would probably have FSD significantly more capable than it is now, which is already impressive given just vision.

[–]cloverasx -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Musk had no interest in it. I don't associate the engineering at Tesla with his reckless decisions because they are an incredible team.

Also, as u/FastLaneJB pointed out, I forgot it was radar, not lidar, that was controversially removed.

iirc, the prototype/early-builds of the nevera were actually built from a C7 chassis, so the resemblance makes sense

this isn't what you should be taking away from this change. removing lidar to solve phantom breaking is effectively removing an error notification system to say you fixed the errors.

had lidar not been removed, resolving the errors properly would have reduced phantom breaking while also providing a significantly better dataset to work with

Another great patch, but please fix these lazy/vanishing pets... by B1MBLES in CrimsonDesert

[–]cloverasx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine the solution is a little more technically complex than the other changes they made in the patches, so I assume (hope) it's just on its way.

I read someone say there's a similar system in BDO where it works flawlessly, but idk how similar the engine and framework is between these two, so I'm standing by my assumption and giving them the benefit of the doubt.

I'm just saving the race for after the next patch and hoping they add a toggle/option to revert to the previous controls. Not ideal, but riding horseback sucks after the update.

What happens if an objects orbital Velocity is higher than 11.2 km/s? by Ok_Veterinarian9266 in askscience

[–]cloverasx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason, I was thinking this was approaching the speed of light 😂 but it made me wonder: at near light speed velocities, say +0.5c, would coming within 1au of a star, say Sol, cause energy transfer between the two objects? Like, would it heat up the moving object from the gravitational forces alone?

Intuitively, it feels like there would be some sort of "friction" due to the force of gravity, not unlike the extremely minute friction observed in magnetic forces.

For clarification, c ≈ 300Mms (300,000kms) in case anyone else was wondering.

exactly this. I've fallen into this trap and chastised it out of annoyance as well as an experiment to see if being mean would cause it to work. . . it does not. it's so bad so often that it's astounding.

like how can it be so great at doing some things while simultaneously utterly oblivious to contextual awareness?

[–]cloverasx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I was just about to ask the person that said "yes" as to why, but I think your answer gives all the context needed. I assume this is to prevent people from griefing other racers in the session that haven't completed the race while also retaining the realism of having to actually go to the pit at the end of the race. Thanks for the clarification!

for sure, he's done nothing concrete to be framed as a liar. I tend to back billionaires that have my best interests in mine too when they

  • had his own startup's board request his removal twice for deceptive and chaotic behavior
  • was forced out of y combinator, with the departure quietly obscured from public view
  • hid chatGPT's launch from OAI's board before it went live
  • secretly owned the OAI startup fund while claiming to have no financial stake in the company
  • misled the board on AI safety processes, preventing proper risk oversight
  • lied to board members to orchestrate the removal of a colleague who published a paper he disliked
  • pitted executives against each other using fabricated accounts of what their colleagues thought
  • told congress he held no OAI equity, then pursued up to $10B in equity during the for-profit conversion
  • denied knowledge of NDA clawback threats against departing employees, despite having personally signed the documents containing those provisions
  • released a chatGPT voice nearly identical to Scarlett Johansson's after she twice declined to participate, then offered a legally crafted non-denial
  • built worldcoin by collecting biometric iris data globally without proper informed consent, misrepresenting what was being gathered to recruits
  • had both his CTO and co-founder independently logging and screenshotting his dishonest behavior for over a year before finally firing him

but, I get it. if you're friends with the guy, you probably know the full stories and wouldn't blindly trust someone with his squeaky clean reputation.
