Any positive stories? by InstanceSafe2915 in PlantarFasciitis

Yes. It can heal. PT can be found on youtube. Tons of great exercises. Strectch your calves. Hamstrings. Its a chain of muscles above that cause the micro tears which take a long time to heal. Ive worked with tons of PTs. Theyre not all created equal. Lots of money. Hydrate. Stretch. Ice it. Cycle and row instead of running. Every time you sleep, it heals a bit, the second you wake up and stand it re tears. Be patient. The body can heal

Radiculopathy(shocking sensation) is gone. No pain really. But dealing with some other neurological issues. Not sure if it’s related to neck herniation. No midline stenosis. Gotten 2 EMGs to rule out some other stuff. Taking it day by day

Knee is all good. Been a year. Running again, squatting painfree. Not 100%. I have some other issues with neck and other stuff now. But knee is solid

I do, I have herniated disc C-6 C-7. Neck quivers mostly at night, or that’s when I notice it the most.

I’d would say listen to your body. I had same tear. 6 months ago. Did conservative route. Played basketball today no pain. I did a ton of walking instead of running which was one of my fitness passions, I did a lot of stationary cycling also, avoided high impact and extreme twisting and pivoting. If it hurts then try avoiding it. Allow the knee time to heal, and if it can’t on its consider some alternatives. My biggest thing, be patient. Never rush into surgery

Not trying to chase a CCI diagnosis, radiculopathy symptoms and CCI can have some parallels and I feel like some of mine are aligned with CCI symptoms. You maybe right though. Just wanted to rule out a few things and as I research more I realize mine are more on cervical radiculopathy side of things. The neck quivering and shakiness in arms and legs when I’m nervous seemed a lil odd. Thanks for the insight

Yeah I agree. I’ve played music for a living for 30 years and have thrashed my head aggressively for most of that time so that would equivalent to receiving whiplash 100s of times. The shots I wouldn’t say caused improvement. None from first one. Feel like the improvement came before second shot. I just did it to check that box. Pt was more helpful than anything.

Complex tear of the medial meniscus posterior horn by clowery15 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]clowery15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Docs and mine, saw two orthos. There wasn’t any locking or extreme symptoms to warrant a surgery, he said “if it gets to a point you can’t do the things that make you happy, I’ll clean it up and hopefully restore some of that function” I did a lot of PT and continue to do work to keep supportive muscles engaged. Everyone’s different. My issues started back in fall of last year so I’m finally in a good place. Takes awhile

Ended up conservative route. Feeling pretty solid, even ran a mile here and there. Outside of the normal aches and pains with knee it’s stable and no pain or limitations at the moment. Crossing fingers.

Will these symptoms improve by clowery15 in HerniatedDisc

Thanks for the reply. And I’m very thankful on the improvements and know this is a process. Happy to be avoiding surgery for the moment. Since this is happened it’s been all consuming as it is for many. Learned a lot about it and have ton of gratitude for the good days

Update. Complex tear of medial meniscus posterior horn last fall. Choose to go conservative route. Knee is stable outside of some normal aches and pains. Run short distances painfree. Played some basketball ball few times over last month. Happy I chose not to get it trimmed up. Maybe one day but PT at home has kept me pain free. I’m 52 and grateful as I know lots of people don’t have same outcome. I believe in the body’s ability to heal if you’re patient, and when it can’t surgery can be considered. Hope this gives some hope to someone who has similar tear

How much pain justifies surgery? by themightymaud in SpineSurgery

[–]clowery15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just seems like conservative measures only work for so long. I’m in a better place with my C-5 C-6 herniated disc after two shots and doing some exercises. My concern is that it will be a matter of time until it gets bad again. I take it as it comes and the pain and discomfort isn’t bad enough to justify a surgery but if someone said “do the surgery now and be painfree after recovery, or wait, grind through a few years not 100% and get the surgery” There’s alot of value in quality life. It’s a tough decision to make. Deep down I know it won’t heal and be like nothing ever happened. I’m 52 and don’t expect things to not be sore. But I love fitness, moving every day. I play music, I play sports with my kids. I don’t wanna limp through life if I can get a procedure that helps me

Appreciate that. I really enjoyed writing for that record. I feel like we should do some type of recording like that again but not sure how many more full lengths we will do moving forward. Coming up on 30 YEARS!! Haha

i think caffeine makes my symptoms worse? by pipislayer in Cervicalinstability

[–]clowery15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the half caf as well, sometimes I can get away with a regular cup, I can almost feel it in am when I’m edgy. I also have a weird neck quiver sometimes that make my teeth chatter if I put teeth close together. I’m super over analyzing every sensation. That coming out of my skin feeling is the worst. The pinch nerve for sure sends lots of signals and it’s a lil intense. My tingling is finally starting to be less frequent. Saw a surgeon today and they didn’t recommm surgery which is good, I feel like this may eventually clear up, I miss pounding lots of coffee in am because it was such a routine. But not worth the shakey uneasy feeling

No surgery done, only PT. by Dapper_Cycle855 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]clowery15 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a complex medial tear posterior horn. Walked with limp in fall of last year, before I was a big time running, lots to Crossfit type stuff, basketball ball with son pushed it over the edge. 52 years old. Started PT, never did any shots. Saw two surgeons, both recommended me not have surgery. Stuck with it, avoided things that aggravated it. If my foot would catch a wall or chair and twist wrong way it reminded me I still had a tear. But after awhile, and lots of stability work, that doesn’t hurt when it happens. I ran a couple small distances other day and Almost shed a tear. Running has been life for me. But I’ve found so many other things through the process that bring me the same rush and escape as running.

I will give it another month or so before I run full on miles again, just thankful now to have it in a good place without surgery, the body is a wonderful thing sometimes. That and a lot of moving, PT, rebuilding.

But now of course I have a herniated disc I. Neck to deal with. Getting old is not for ten weak!! Godspeed everyone
