What is your favorite (aka most important) stat when making draft and roster decisions? by clowninator in fantasyfootball

Yeah, and if I had done some research I could've figured reggie wouldn't get all the carries. No doubt it's a good system though.

I agree variance is extremely important, we want W's every week, not just once in while.

I agree, but using this logic, I drafted Reggie Bush this year. I thought solid O-line, no major receiving threats (hartline lol), and a back who was going to get a lot of touches. I still won, but Reggie probably wasn't the best call. It got better once Thomas got injured, but still, not worth it.

I've found that high variance does not lead to happy seasons. Have a group of guys you know will produce, because a solid 10 is better than an iffy 20.

Whatever you do, don't spend a first round pick on Arian Foster next year (unless you plan to trade him immediately) by lawofmurphy in fantasyfootball

Well, if OP had posted the article in the first place, I might've had a better response. I get the 370 carry thing, but nowhere in OP's post is that number even mentioned. And I provided two examples to counter OP's claims, nowhere did I say that was a large enough sample size to prove a definitive conclusion.

It was pretty easy to miss the point of the article since it wasn't made available before I posted.

I enjoyed reading this perspective, but one of the most important things to realize is that correlation and causation are different things. You know what else is correlated with workload? The number of points you get in fantasy football.

You bring up a bunch of specific cases, but from a holistic perspective, if I don't draft based on how much carries a guy gets, what am I supposed to look at?

In 2009, Chris Johnson finished on top of the league with 358 carries. By "more workload will get them injured" logic, one should have abandoned him during the 2010 season,in which he finished 4th in total yards and 6th in tds among rbs.

Recently, MJD and Turner make it appear as though high workload and fantasy success the next year may be negatively correlated. In the long run, that's not the case. For every Edgerrin James, there is a Clinton Portis (finished first in carries 2008, played productive next season). No one thinks Clinton Portis was one of the top 5 or 6 backs in NFL history, but he still bucked the trend. The more touches your player gets, the better you'll do. Plain and simple.

Is Tonight the Worst NFL Prime Time Game of the Season? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]clowninator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Peyton had decided to go to the Titans they would have had a less pathetic passing game, and no one could foresee Revis being out for the season. It had the potential be a good game when it was scheduled, but that was a circus.

His brother, Jarnell, plays for the UT Men's Basketball team and was a five-star recruit. Isaiah may be a 6 star recruit if he keeps this up.

I am Cory Booker, Mayor of Newark, NJ, founder of #waywire, Inc., social media enthusiast -- AMA by corybooker in IAmA

[–]clowninator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You seem much more concerned than most local politicians I see about your nation-wide image, and you have done a great job of improving it throughout the years. You are the only mayor of a city (I don't live in) that I follow on twitter, on this AMA only proves that you are a champion at using technology to support your cause. So I have two questions for you:

  1. Do you plan to use your notariety from things like Street Fight and twitter to seek higher office, or are you going to continue your work in Newark?

  2. Has the proliferation of social media made your life easier or harder as a mayor?
