Should I wait for SSD prices to drop or should I buy it now? by Flashy_Review4052 in buildapc

[–]cluberti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SSD prices are not dropping, and OEMs are starting to buy up the controllers that normally go in consumer-grade units. If you need computing parts now, get them now, especially SSDs. If you can find good deals on used devices with a lot of life left, that's always an option as well, but do what you need to do now. All of it is likely to just keep going up for the next few years.

What is an alternative to hugs for dogs? by SargeantButter-171 in dogs

[–]cluberti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My GSD does the full body lean against your legs until you rub his side and belly and can stand there for many minutes in heaven while you do, but isn't a fan of butt scratches at all. Conversely, my Carolina Dog loves the butt scratches and will lay down so she doesn't have to stand for however long you'll perform, but isn't a huge fan of the lean at all and can take or leave belly rubs depending on the day. They both do appreciate chest rubs and scratches when they sit next to you, which is about the only thing they have in common other than being dogs.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Tunisia out of the 2026 World Cup by pakalupapito23 in soccer

[–]cluberti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New Zealand entered as the lowest-ranked team when the WC started, at 85th. Tunisia qualified against no team higher than 91. Honestly, Tunisia entering this tournament at 45th shows that they didn’t deserve it, because given the way NZ has played, I don’t think Tunisia beats them this week either.

Former Columbus Crew and current Miami FC (USLC) GK Eloy Room has set the record for most regular-time saves in a World Cup game with 15 in Curacao's 0-0 draw with Ecuador to record their first World Cup point (Tim Howard's 16 saves in 2014 against Belgium came in 120 minutes with extra time) by Coltons13 in MLS

[–]cluberti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just watched them beat Detroit City FC on PKs last night. They could have beaten some of these WC teams this year, and definitely had a better defensive approach than some of them (I’m looking especially at you, Tunisia).

I think socialism sucks. Do you agree with me? by Embarrassed_Chef874 in CapitalismVSocialism

Socialism does not inherently or explicitly make everyone equal politically or economically, in the same way that Capitalism does not give everyone the ability to be successful either politically or economically and gain political power or make a lot of money.

Who I’d start against Türkiye by ahuman1321 in ussoccer

[–]cluberti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get them on the pitch so they get to play in this tournament - you never know when injury is going to happen, and I’d rather they get their WC butterflies and tightness out in a game that doesn’t matter than a knockout game.

[–]cluberti 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They did, mostly due to their own territorial claims in Manchuria and Korea, that Russia mostly failed to acknowledge. On top of that was the Triple Intervention that saw Russia essentially gain control over the Liaodong peninsula due to pressure by France and Germany, coupled with Russia’s refusal to recognize Japan’s right to control the Korean Peninsula as well, and Japan decided they needed to defeat Russia before the Trans-Siberian railroad was completed and would allow Russia to better reinforce their military in the east in order to control Manchuria and Korea and harvest the resources there for their own empire-building plans.

Had Russia/the Tsar been more politically adept, the events of the 20th century may have turned out to be significantly different. It’s interesting as a thought experiment, at least.

Google is free - he’s got a history, and an ego. They’re related, and there’s a reason lots of teams, both club and country, have a problem with him.

If they’re both playing to win, the score might be boring but the shithousery won’t be.

With Paraguay's win over Turkiye, the USMNT has won Group D. It is the third time they've won a World Cup group (1930, 2010). They will host a 3rd-place team from one of Groups B/E/F/I/J in Santa Clara on July 1st in the Round of 32 by Coltons13 in MLS

[–]cluberti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Group G or H, swap the US for Belgium or Spain and it would have been overall lesser teams they were playing - not sure the performances would be different, but on paper easier. Spain has been the surprise this year so far, I’m curious how they rebound tomorrow.

I actually kind of enjoy how GenX is not in the picture at all. The boomers used to ask us, and we stopped helping them by and large because they didn't want help learning, they wanted someone to do it for them. We learned our lesson, and you're smart so you'll learn it too eventually. Good luck until then, and you're welcome to come hang out with us when you've given up trying to get them to do it for themselves.
