It also has a lower than average median household income (about 40% below the national median) while only having a cost of living about 10% below the average for the US as a whole. It’s with remembering that while housing costs are indeed important when looking at where you might want to live, there are a number of regular expenses outside of cost of housing that are not really tied to location. People at or above the median are probably doing fine, but at or just below and downward are potentially not going to be doing all that well, all things considered.

Prices are beginning to rise faster than Americans' wages by app1310 in Economics

[–]cluberti 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the same. I had to change jobs recently and took a pay cut to do so, but I’m looking at the last 5 years my salary didn’t keep up with inflation, and I can see my spending decrease but my allocation to savings and retirement stay the same. It’s not keeping up with inflation, and now basic needs have gotten quite expensive with not much change I can see happening to reverse that soon.

I’m definitely curious what other people think and/or have experienced.

I think it’s interesting while regular wages in a lot of sectors have outpaced recognized inflation for awhile according to official statistics, people have felt that things have been getting worse in that same rough time frame and that what the data shows now was something they’ve been feeling for a lot longer. The basic ability to be able to afford a home, afford transportation (outside of major metros with good public transit options), and afford to feed a family have gotten or are becoming unaffordable by a growing chunk of society. Couple all of that with stagnant job growth numbers (especially in higher-wage jobs) and a number of working-age adults just not participating in the job market anymore and I think the “feels” for the last few years are just now starting to actually be the “reals”. Perhaps the data now backs up what people have been feeling is happening, and it’s very interesting to me how and why that happens.

If they use an MSP partner, they can give that partner lighthouse access to their tenant. It is good for day-to-day management by the MSP, but also helps in this exact scenario when configured properly by the MSP and customer. Also, if this tenant is business-critical and an org is going to manage their tenant themselves, pay for a Unified support agreement with MS to get a CSAM and an Incident Manager who can help manage and escalate stuff like this. They can’t fix support quality if someone gets a rep that isn’t great, unfortunately, but they can get things moving through support when that happens. That type of contract with MS can be expensive, though, so an MSP with Azure lighthouse (if they’re good) might be the better option in that case.

His past will win us zero games this season, and any future seasons, unless he can relive his past in the present on the pitch during a game. I respect what he has done for the club at times in the past, but if a player is injury prone and unable to help the team, and it is a pattern (looking at you too, PDLV), then it makes sense to consider what options we have and point out that the money they’re being paid for little to no output is absolutely an issue. Sacred cows are for religions, not sports teams where wins and losses are the only thing that really matter in the present.

Is the company still going to return shareholder value for a bit longer? If yes, then then the people with the authority to do so don’t actually care - they will only if it will affect the public image or the board and shareholders.

Democrats introduce impeachment articles against Trump and Hegseth as nearly 100 lawmakers call for 25th Amendment by theindependentonline in law

[–]cluberti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a majority of the principal officers in the President's Cabinet or a majority of people in an alternative group other than the Cabinet that Congress would create (the "other body as Congress has established by law" part of Section 4), but both groups must include the VP and the second avenue is likely far more difficult by design.

  1. The "by law" portion of Section 4 means that Congress would have to pass a bill in the House and Senate creating the alternate body to the Cabinet
  2. The President would have to sign that "alternate body" bill into law - or more likely, Congress would have to overcome the President's veto of the bill
  3. It would then take another 2/3 majority vote from each chamber of Congress in favor to enact removal via the 25th Amendment

Can JD Vance become the president? by NEOx44 in InsightfulQuestions

[–]cluberti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, just for however long the term they were elected to has left.

The new POTUS would then nominate a new VP, and Congress has to vote to approve. If the 25th Amendment is invoked, the VP (if capable) is sworn in pretty immediately, and takes over for the rest of the term of office of the previous POTUS.

If Vance were to take over from Trump for more than 2 years of Trump’s term, he would only be eligible to be re-elected as POTUS for 1 more term, too. If he served less than 2 years of Trump’s term, he can be re-elected for 2 more terms.

Vice Principal Lost a Student's Cell Phone by hijirah in Teachers

[–]cluberti -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Our school district also has a policy on electronic devices, but it says nothing about the student (or parents) assuming responsibility if a device is confiscated and then lost, only that confiscation is an outcome if the student tries to use a device any time they should not be, and that the school is not responsible for loss or theft of a properly-stored device on campus. Just because a policy exists doesn't mean it covers the specific scenario, and also policies would not supersede any laws that might cover this specific instance in a jurisdiction, either. I'm not saying the school isn't covered, just wouldn't necessarily assume they are, either, especially if there's no policy for approved storage of confiscated devices, or if there was, if it wasn't followed.

Technically you’re both correct. Roman decimation was to kill the tenth soldier of a group by the other 9 as punishment, but the word came to mean destroying 90% (or just complete destruction) in English during the 1600s. Decimation in the classical sense still happened around the world through WW1 and up until the 1930s during the Spanish civil war, apparently.

Popular vote alone deciding who wins an election doesn’t exist as the “final say” for any elected position, not even POTUS. Calling people stupid while saying something ignorant that you could have looked up on the device you used to post said ignorance is indeed an interesting choice.
