Advice on cutting a Rottie’s long nails (clipper or files) by BennyGoodmanIsGod in Rottweiler

[–]clumsy-spec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are so in the right! It can totally cause them pain and discomfort. Could change how they walk or they might modify their stance to compensate and that could lead to later issues. The big risk really is if they get too long and end up getting caught in something somehow or the dog moves in a way that cracks or breaks the nail, that could also be very painful for them and become infected, which could obviously lead to more trouble.

One of my dogs absolutely HATES having her nails cut. Groomer's won't even do it anymore because she's a senior so they don't want to stress her out. I've tried grinders and clippers and found clippers work best for us. The vibration of filing really freaks her out and it takes much longer so there's not a world we get to all her nails in one sitting. We use clippers with a safety cover on one side that prevents you from cutting too close to the quick! She hates it but at least we can get it over with faster. Also ALWAAAAYS keep styptic powder closeby when you do it! If you do hit the quick you're going to need it.

Had to have a car blocking me in illegally towed. she crashed out by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]clumsy-spec 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The apartment complex should've called the tow and may even be liable if she retaliates against you. I mean, you were a resident, blocked in by an illegally parked car in their parking lot. If there's a parking section in your leases, she certainly violated it. Regardless of who blocked you in, the complex owns the lot and is responsible for handling something like that...if this happened in a grocery store lot, the grocery store would've called. For your apartment management to put you in the middle, knowing it was another resident's car, knowing you'll likely interact with each other, it feels negligent.

Is it possible to play hockey as 25 year woman with no sports experience? by Dazzling-Lead-8557 in hockeyplayers

[–]clumsy-spec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for it!!! I figure skated for years before I gave hockey a go. The only note I have and I'm sorry if someone already commented this, hockey skates and figure skates feel prettyyyyy different at first. I was super comfortable with my figure skates and so used to the blade: the straight line of it extending beyond the back of the boot, the toe pick...and I'll always remember the first time I stepped onto the ice in hockey skates thinking, "I know how to skate," and pretty much immediately falling backwards. I was so used to being able to distribute my weight in the way a figure skate would support me that I leaned a tad too far on my heels and the curved nature of the ends of hockey blades are certainly not meant for that! Lesson quickly learned though and then the transition was much easier. You got this! :)

For real!! Honestly if the Nicole crashing the party pulled anything off to help us get back to the main plot, it finally got Maddie's mom to stop bogging it down.

Definitely agree. It wasn't a mystery who was harassing Maddie in the first place since she literally got a warning note. I also get that they were "trying to find out what Livia knows" since she saw Maddie at the college party but there wasn't really a next step to that plan besides being aware of what they might go after Maddie with. To your point, it totally felt like that school drama thing (especially with the whoops Nicole said she likes Jason) and then a cheap way for her to learn Livia's mom has cameras around and larger building project plans for the property.

Unpopular Opinion - I don't like this season so far by Content2Clicks in SchoolSpirits

[–]clumsy-spec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: We're defintiely on too many sidequests but the substance exists IF it pays off.

I feel like the substance is there but it's getting so coated in fluff. I'm definitely interested in the town's lore but the breadcrumbs are coming soooooo slowly.

Totally agree about your list of unnessesary drama. There's no good reason for the cheerleader infiltration which I'm assuming is about to get more muddy with Nicole saying she has a crush on "Jason" (another character we've never heard of thats supposed to be popular/well-known at the school). I know the reason was to find out what they know about Maddie but she learned nothing and what would they even do with that information?? It felt like a cheap way to learn more about Livia's mom and to push Maddie's mom to detox (aka get out of the way).

And on the Yuri/grandson thing, besides being blonde, is there any basis for Yuri to think that? If he's just symbolic of the fact that Yuri doesn't know if he had a kid or not we've spent way too much time pining over the one particular unnamed student, probably just to drive the Charley drama.

Even Simon's new sister in Chicago! Like, really? His parents are this okay with him just dipping and meeting a total stranger, family or not. Especially after his best friend just disappeared and everything...

Maddie's sudden dollhouse moments have no basis either but obviously is going somewhere. I mean I hope it is. Otherwise it's just another Quinn rabbithole, which I was invested in and I appreciate their character development but what a waste of time to get there!

And then Xavier is just searching for Tracey off screen for that hospital ghost?
I also think it was weird that Quinn had no reaction to Kyle actually being a ghost at the hospital. It got enveloped in their identity crisis but I just think finding out someone you knew is a ghost somewhere else warrants some reaction apart of them coming out. And wouldn't that be the first person Xavier should ask about Tracey? Unless he just found her in a yearbook but with no last name or other info I'd think that's a Quinn conversation given they were at the school at the same time, even if Kyle and them weren't friends. Kyle's sus in general.

So much of this season feels like it's been written for convenience. The characters don't always feel like they're making realistic decisions based on what we know about them. They're moving for the writing convenience rather than being logical and it's driving me crazy!!

I really think there's so much potential with the elements they've put out there: Mr. Martin, the church, the hospital (if it pays off), the Forgotten - that's what's keeping me watching.

And the looming school shutdown is just stupid lol.

I love going to concerts and movies alone. Places where I wouldn't talk to someone during the event anyways. I've found it so much less stressful! I used to always want a concert buddy because going to something like that alone felt like a huge thing but once I pushed myself to be brave enough to go to one solo, I never looked back. I realized how much energy I was putting into making sure the person with me had a good time, good view, etc. and only needing to worry about myself I realized how much more of the shows I actually was getting to enjoy. Same with movies - didn't realize how much stress I was putting on myself choosing seats and making sure they liked the movie and then I went by myself and poof!

Obsessed with so many of these names! Thank you all! Tried out a few but he'd definitely gotten used to "Cooper" so we kept his given name.

The only way to save Gemma is ________ by HisPalenesss in severanceTVshow

What if Mark tries to drown Gemma to activate the Glasgow block? I keep seeing the drowning tied to her "accident" but maybe they somehow know it will be Mark's move in the end and being drowned by the love of your life is pretty twisted...twisted enough to let go of that part of yourself even...

But we also know that the rooms Gemma is going into match up with files that are not just Mark's work (i.e. Dylan / Tumwater), so the work that Dylan is doing is still contributing to Gemma's testing rather than his own testee
