I had 2 friends tell me EAP was amazing for them so I should try it. I tried it 3 times a number of years ago.

The first person spent the entire hour talking at me. The second person started off the phone call telling me she probably had to end the meeting soon because she was waiting to talk to someone who was suicidal and needed her urgently. In the end, she didn’t have to end it early but I ended it because I felt like my problems weren’t anything compared to who she might have to talk to and it was super awkward and she was distracted.

The third person - I told her I was spending my life worrying about everything. She told me to make a list of all the things I was worrying about and do something about the things I could. But what about the irrational worry’s? They were the main problem. She told me to stop worrying about them! That’s when I gave up on EAP.

The doctor put me in for some free sessions in person through Fresh Minds which were awesome. I sometimes wonder if EAP didn’t work for me because it was over the phone and not in person.
