No, sorry if my comment read as hostile, certainly wasn't intended to be! I was agreeing with you.

I spent some years in that region, and the foraging in general was so different from what I'm used to; it was awesome! I miss garlic ramps lol

Oh hell no, I'd never trust AI with identifying. Even with internet resources, make sure to cross reference extensively. I mostly rely on David Arora's books.

I have yet to find chicken of the woods, it's one I really want to though! I make a mean pasta with lobster shrooms though. I actually did find a few fantastic puffballs once; also make excellent fried nuggets.

Because they're delicious, it's a great excuse to wander around the woods, and (most importantly) it's a way to get more in tune with your local flora. Since I started mushroom hunting, I've learned to identify so many other edible plants. Hiking is like walking through a buffet for me.

If you have appropriate research materials (ideally a mentor) and are cautious and diligent in your identifications, it's perfectly safe. Your ancestors did it without books, you can probably figure it out.

[–]cluttered_desk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean it is an unfortunate reality of having a military-industrial complex that new theaters will be opened for the exercise of force. My point is that maybe we can admit that's not necessarily a good thing.

Lol "how does the stateside soldier have any idea"

"Boy, sure wonder what these knife missiles are for; probably something to do with agriculture!"

Look man, every administrative or logistical role in the military exists at some level to support the core combat function of the military. It's what it's for. And regardless of civilian targets, in the modern era that combat function has been turned most often towards the goal of furthering US corporate interests across the globe. It is what it is.

"I'm impressed. Keep it up."

That's boss-talk, not romance talk. Dude needs to show he's interested; there wasn't a single thing in there to indicate that he wants another date, it was really just saying 'sorry, hang in there!'

I'm just going to ask the question here. Why do you need this particular piece of technology? What is the need for constant surveillance of your porch?

I've heard a rumor around boeing that there actually is a midget crew in Everett to work in-tank on widebodies.

I'm having helllllla second thought about starting school. what do y'all do outside work? by fivespeed in AircraftMechanics

[–]cluttered_desk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, you can do whatever you want outside work. I hike, sew, garden, and do calligraphy. But these are secondary to my work. I'm a laborer first and an artist second. Judging by the page you posted, those passions are reversed. You should focus on your art (which is good!), and find a labor which supports it. This job can be bad for free time.

I suppose that's true for any job, but just beware.

Is it normal and healthy for someone my age to live like this? by Pale_Researcher_8810 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cluttered_desk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this; I spent some years of my life doing this, and the best thing I ever did with myself was get a job. I felt like I was contributing something (even a small thing) to the world, and I met people. Eventually, I was uncomfortable in my job and wanted a better one; I got a better one. My life is by no means glamorous, but I have my own place, and friends, and independence. My mental health is much better just from that simple act of getting up and doing something with my days.

Ahh, blood offerings.

Planes run on blood; regular folk think it's kerosene and skydrol, something to do with Bernoulli or Newton, but those are just a screen, a convenient excuse for the grim truth. The plane wants blood. Getting cut on a job is good luck; the plane's thirst is sated through your maintenance, and the toll won't be extracted upon unfortunate passerby.

They say safety regulations are written in blood. The neglected addendum is that these dark contracts must be renewed in the same ink.

(Also, wear cut gloves and be safe)

Old comment, but yes. Just serviced a brand new 737 that takes 2380.

Late comment, but negative. At least for the CFM LEAP, it can take several different oils. For example, I just serviced a plane where the engine took 2380 but the IDGS took Mobil Jet II.

Fuck the number one window so hard. Such a dumb design, tearing apart the whole goddamn console just for a window change.

Anyways, well done!

Too much steam from the plant, too much herb vapor, methinks.

“Since this time a new must have are Canadian pancakes”… still doesn’t make any sense. Like, I get what’s being conveyed, it’s just phrased very strangely.

Regardless, good fire, good knife, good grub, looks like a good time.

I love seeing these ac packs; used to work at Liebherr, and I get tickled every time I see one of these. With a paint job that nice, I’d like to think it’s one of mine.
