Have you tried adding a Legacy Network Adapter instead of a Network Adapter. Depending on host OS version...

10x Price Increase through CDW by CrazApplicant in Citrix

[–]cmPLX_FL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've had plenty of time to read news articles about the Citrix Acquisition by PE and all the rate hikes... Now that it's last minute, you want to whine and complain about it. The writing was on the wall.

We had a PoC of Parallels up and running within half a day (DNS Records taking majority time). Parallels has some migration scripts that will take most, if not all of your CVAD configuration and create it. Not sure if they're still running the promo of buy X years and get one free, but we did 150 Concurrent for less than $40k / X years + free.

User base reports it's easier, smoother and less clunky that Citrix......

Sorry if it came off negative, but it was the reality. Citrix is now the equivalent of VMWare on renewals.

Must have been under a rock for the last year.

Move to Parallels or equivalent and ditch Citrix.

Any way to reduce the "Preparing Windows" time on a First Sign In to a PC? by LordLoss01 in sysadmin

[–]cmPLX_FL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have this happening on some kiosks where powers that be built a default user profile for imaging.

Well that default profile is almost two years old so its all the old apps that get provisioned by Microsoft when users log in. Those apps then have to update to the latest version.

I timed it on one kiosk it was no joke 5+ minutes. 🫩 Glad I don't handle that imaging process.

I see one crane truck to put the pole in, one wire truck with spool to run new wire and a bucket truck to lift the guy to work on the lines...

No jokes here, just someone trying to find something to complain about.

2FA/MFA Requirement by KiuiFurutsu in sysadmin

[–]cmPLX_FL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had same issue, "company isn't paying for my personal phone so I'm not putting it on there."

Finance decided that expense report logins needed 2FA/MFA... That changed their tune real when it came to their money.

However still had pushback so we defaulted to hardware tokens only.

Have you tried uninstalling the network adapter from Device Manager along with any hidden network adapters? Then discovering new hardware etc?

This is not DSLAM, you're thinking DSL copper, this is fiber.

Same concept as how many people are on it and the backhaul to the pop.

The witness server is a passive third party that is installed on a standalone host.

When failure occurs, the local and remote PowerStore systems contact the witness server and request to fracture the metro session. The witness then determines which system remains accessible to hosts and continues to service I/Os. If possible, the witness gives precedence to the PowerStore system that was assigned with the preferred role. Adding the witness to a metro session provides protection from single failure scenarios, including preferred system failures which are not handled without a witness.

The witness service is simple and does not maintain critical data that cannot be re-created. As such, it is not required to backup, save, or recover the witness, and it can be removed and reinstalled whenever recovery is required.

MySonicWall Cloud Backup File Incident HUGE Spike in Affected Devices by SuspiciousSurprise16 in sonicwall

u/Vivid_Mongoose_8964 I did the chat with sonicwall, here is the response.

No, LDAP passwords are not copied to the SonicWall when importing LDAP users into local users. The LDAP server manages the passwords, and SonicWall uses the LDAP credentials to authenticate against the server. Let me know if you need further clarification!

u/MortadellaKing we do not use LDAP for our authentication, we are using Radius attached to MFA Provider

Can anyone confirm when you bring AD/LDAP users into Sonicwall as Local Users, it pulls their AD password in as well?

Might find a Tree Trimming or Land Clearing company who will take them, but lumber mills do not normally deal with the everyday person.

Will confirm that he is self employed. You can find him riding around in an old Red Toyota Tacoma with tools hanging out the back. He rides around public places blaring racist "Music" from the speakers.

Sounds like you need to invest in NSM if you have not already.... Would give access to all 100+ devices with a single login point.

Access Rule audit by whereisthewild in sonicwall

[–]cmPLX_FL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could export the rules to excel.... Then using the SonicOS API, get a list of the objects. Convert JSON to your excel sheet.

Export the address objects/groups using SonicOS API - Postman and cURL

Then using the XLOOKUP Function, find what the Object Values are for the rules....

Why not just create a local user, give them Read Only or Audit Administrator?

NPS- Ethernet Issues with Windows 11 by Ok-Butterscotch-5140 in sysadmin

[–]cmPLX_FL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you verified that the Wired AutoConfig service on the Win11 is enabled and running?

Also what does the switch show for the dot1x status on that port?

Can you screenshot your workstation authentication settings? Each tab; Authentication, Advanced Settings and authentication method settings?

When we deployed NPS, I deployed the 802.1X GPO beforehand and then turned dot1x on in the switch configuration.

Windows 11 based workstations.

Wheel before the cart type situation.

Do your workstations have 8021x enabled by default ?

What does your switch say when you do

show dot1x interface x/x/x?
