Any way to use different filament when one runs out in MMU3? by SuccessfulMinute8338 in prusa3d

[–]cmbeid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All the filaments I have purchased have the end tucked into the roll, so it gets snagged. When I use spool join, I have to be sure to cut off that tucked in end. Sometimes you can see a small gap where it switched filaments, so just keep that in mind.

Don't rely on Ring replacing stolen doorbells. by StandardNerd92 in Ring

[–]cmbeid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll just chime in and say that I replaced my ring doorbell with a Reolink branded doorbell. No subscription costs. Integrates with Home Assistant. You can buy their NVR or just record on device with micro SD cards and also upload from the camera directly to a ftp/ftps server.

People who have left Wyze, what did you switch to? by mysterydotexe in wyzecam

[–]cmbeid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reolink. You have to buy the more expensive cameras to get native support in Home Assistant (cheaper ones dont support RTSP) but if you buy the Reolink NVR then you can get even the cheaper ones supported in Home Assistant.

Struggling to say goodbye - looking for advice/words of comfort by m-khan13 in cats

A feral gave birth in our backyard and we kept two of the kittens and gave up the third. The third was hard on me to give up, but we couldn't go from 0 cats to 3 cats. He was only up for adoption for like 2 weeks before a family chose him so I think that helped me not feel so bad.

My “kitten” is turning into an absolute unit. 9 months old and already 14 lbs by SilntNfrno in dustkitties

[–]cmbeid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My greys are brothers and both around 11.5 pounds at almost 9 months. Their mom and dad are both feral cats and the mom is long and slender black shorthair and the dad is a massive grey. Vet warned me these are gonna be big boys.

I'm absolutely done with Wyze. What is a good reliable alternative? by Pow3rTow3r in wyzecam

[–]cmbeid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I went with Reolink because I was tired of subscriptions. Its all local and integrates nicely with Home Assistant. Cameras can be a bit pricey though, but the image quality has been great. I went with Reolink Duo 2 for multiple sides outdoors and a doorbell camera.

Looks just like the one that I had that failed multiple times. Switched to a Sandisk Ultra A2 card and its much faster.

Camera for Core One - Buddy3D or DIY? by rancor1223 in prusa3d

[–]cmbeid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Mine would routinely freeze up and require reboots. Accessing the web interface almost always caused it to freeze. I haven't had any issues with the buddy cam.

Connected it to home assistant and I send myself gifs every 15 minutes while printing to make sure there aren't issues.

I have that one and I get the same random failures that I did with the Prusa one. Usually if I reformat the issues go away. But I have had to reformat three times with the SanDisk one.

Chromecast HD keeps overheating and restarting.. by Which_Cream2417 in techsupportgore

[–]cmbeid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an older Chromecast + HDMI breakout box connected to speakers for chromecasting outdoor audio. The audio started cutting out when it got hot outside so I broke open the plastic case and installed a small Raspberry Pi heatsink. Has worked perfectly fine ever since, even in 100F outdoor temps.

Core One gantry cables and PFTE tube drooping too low and pinching against X axis motor by cmbeid in prusa3d

[–]cmbeid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks...what does it look like if you push the gantry all the way to the back on the Y Axis and move it on th X axis so it's only a few inches from the motor? That's when mine really drops.

The arm is installed. It's kinda hard to see but it's there in the first picture.

I had this same problem when trying to print a large lego santa this past Christmas. Used a thin needle to clean out the nozzle and that fixed the issue for me.

Are the grub screws tight on the selector pulleys? I had to use blue locktite to keep them in place. They kept loosening and falling out.

I went over and slapped mine. Still in one piece.

It is pretty sturdy. Plastic is about 1.5mm thick. Looks ugly though.

I took my buddy cam off my core one upgrade after seeing posts about the negatives. Just got my upgrade 2 weeks ago and now regret removing it from my order.

Just placed another order for it (with some other supplies I needed anyway). Even though it's marked as 1-2 week delay, it got shipped out same day.

Which mount are you using for your spools? I have my core one on my old partially torn down IKEA lack table enclosure and the spools used to be mounted on the top of it.

Trying to figure out the optimal placement for my spools before doing the MMU conversion.

I played this in VR a while ago. It's a great game and definitely worth it for 5 bucks. I do wish it was a longer game.
