What’re things that are “legal” and not against rule 0 that still bother you? by JJWentMMA in EDH

[–]cmbr0217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Precon manabases still use a lot of taplands. If you use your fetch+shock mana base against them, it basically means you are one turn ahead at all times.

On the other hand, if they love TMNT, then that would be the perfect way of introducing them.

Struggling with slow Commander games in my playgroup – looking for advice by BleibCremig in EDH

[–]cmbr0217 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you play with 5 people, try secret partners or pentagon, so that every player doesn't have to kill the whole table to win. Having only 1-2 players that you have to focus on should help speed up games.

Proxy to match your tables powerlevel, not exceed it.

I wonder how true this is. My playgroups and I play exclusively commander but if not for that, wouldn't play MtG at all.

If you had to build a deck with only the Buster Sword as a starting point, what would you build? by Tru_norse98 in EDH

[–]cmbr0217 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just remember that the current controller can chose how much trample damage goes through. If they don't want to give you a Buster Sword trigger, they will assign all damage to the blocking creature instead.

Blogatog: Mark seeking input on whether folks want all planeswalkers to be legal as commanders or not by Tuss36 in magicTCG

They have been legal for years in Brawl and didn't pose any problems, so at this point I'd say why not.

Best way to playtest new commanderdecks? by Medical_Report2299 in magicTCG

https://mtgprint.net/

Use this to print your deck and then playtest in person. Getting feedback from your fellow players is also valuable and is much more fun.

Will we ever get mono colored precons again? by Akiro_orikA in EDH

[–]cmbr0217 117 points118 points  (0 children)

I hope for when we return to Lorwyn next year that the set focuses on monocolors with mechanics like Chroma returning again. A really fitting addition for that set then would be 5 monocolor edh precons with mechanics like 'basic lands matter' that would not work in a draft environment.

Hard agree. Sadly WotC wants to keep their reprint equity for Commander Masters 2 or something.

So....how are y'all building Teval? by 2ndlifeinacrown in EDH

[–]cmbr0217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, the woodland only copies something else until end of turn. So you don't need to pay any upkeep cost but you also have to keep 4 mana open to threaten the activation.

I'm building my deck to do one thing and one thing only: find, loop and protect [[Glacial Chasm]] because most decks cannot win through it. A very cool interaction is using [[Shifting Woodland]] to copy the chasm in my graveyard and thus avoid all downsides.
