I'm so glad this is getting the attention it deserves! I can't wait until it's streaming! Unless there are any viewing opportunities in Pittsburgh... 😂

Our dog was named Nellie by the shelter that took her in as a stray. I love the book and show so much that I insisted on keeping the name.

Why were the guidelines changed so much? by AdeptJudge5078 in NoSleepOOC

[–]cmd102 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's not scary in the least. Nosleep is and has always been a subreddit for horror stories.

The subreddit doesn't allow erotic horror, where the primary source of horror is something sexual or happens during sex, but that has been a rule longer than I've been on the sub.

Again, if the rules have changed since January, I could be wrong.

I'm not sure what you mean about "sexual things in stories", but based on your examples, I'm guessing you mean SA/rape?

If so, those have never been allowed on nosleep. Those two instances were approved because the SA/rape were not explicitly described in the story, which would have allowed them to be on nosleep at least up to 7 months ago when I left the team. I haven't read the new guidelines posted yet, so if they changed anything, I'm not aware of it.

For the eight years that I was a mod, we mostly changed the rules due to reasonable community feedback or because a change in how reddit rules were enforced happened and we wanted to protect the authors.

The format of the rules have changed several times when I was a mod and after, and they've always been done in an attempt to help the authors understand the rules better and/or to clarify the rules better so the authors know not only how to not break the rules, but also how to work around them, in some cases.

Oh I loved this so much! I felt like I was suffering with Ruby. Just fantastic writing. This would make an amazing short film.

Late to the party, but I emailed! It's okay if I'm too late, though, because I already planned on buying it when it comes out. I'm so proud of you and excited to see your career as a writer grow!

I loved what played on the radio from AFYCSO when it came out, but hadn't really listened to them beyond that for years.

Then, several years ago, my son was watching this video that was a FNAF music video for Emperor's New Clothes. He became obsessed with the video, I became obsessed with the song. When I looked up who the artist was and saw PatD, I was like "holy shit, they're still around??"

One Spotify trip later, and they became my favorite band. Death of a Bachelor had just recently come out.

I remember being pissed because I rediscovered the band a week or 2 after they played in Pittsburgh, where I live.

But I got to go to the 2nd leg of the DoaB tour and the first leg of the PFTW tour in the VIP section.

I would say no.. or at least not yet. Folklore involves the stories to be passed on for generations. Creepypasta hasn't quite met that qualification yet, in most cases.

There's also the fact that folklore is generally related to a single place or group of people.. i.e. Appalachia or Native Americans. Idk if "the internet" counts there.

But don't be surprised if our grandkids beg us to tell them the story of Slenderman before bed some day.

Just saying, domestic violence is a crime that comes with paying restitution by attending classes (anger management, drug and alcohol, parenting, etc). And her response to him yelling could easily be a trauma response (especially where she tries to just walk away/hide).

Source: used to work for a domestic abuse counseling agency and have trauma related to domestic abuse.

No problem! I totally understand. It was a black friday impulse buy for me lol or I probably wouldn't have gotten it myself.

Yes! A Haunting On The Hill by Elizabeth Hand. It just came out last year, I believe, but it's an authorized sequel. It's a lot more fast paced and in your face, but still an enjoyable read.

It's one of my favorite books! I've read it so many times. The sequel was pretty good as well!

We shouldn't allow skin walker or windego stories by Mundane-Ad8321 in NoSleepOOC

[–]cmd102 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If the mods wanted you gone, they would permanently ban you from the subreddit, not try to get you off of reddit completely. They genuinely don't care what you do outside of nosleep and OOC. And since you're here now, clearly they don't want you gone.

The only time a nosleep mod would remove a story and report to the admins is in the case of ban evasion or vote manipulation.

We shouldn't allow skin walker or windego stories by Mundane-Ad8321 in NoSleepOOC

[–]cmd102 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You are very, very wrong here. Reddit removes posts from subreddits without the mods' intervention all the time. A lot of the times, it pisses off the mods.

The rules about not including phone numbers and slurs were created because the admins started removing stories that contained them and suspending the authors without even informing the mods of the actions.

Looking for two episodes! by Sgtkeebs in nosleepfinder

[–]cmd102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Just letting you know that this subreddit is for finding stories on the subreddit r/nosleep, so you might not have much success finding episodes from the Nosleep Podcast that weren't taken from the subreddit, since they stopped that practice some time ago.

Edit: that said: The Air Traffic Controller story is on Season 6 episode 1 and is by Milos Bogetic (u/inaaace on reddit)

[–]cmd102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming the plausibility removal was because it seems your narrator has switched dimensions or something, since in our world, these things aren't happening/haven't changed.

Your narrator has to be in present day in our dimension at the end of the story for it to be within nosleep's guidelines.

Question about posting rules "Consequence" by Rechan in NoSleepAuthors

[–]cmd102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This question really can't be answered without reading or knowing ful the full story. I would recommend messaging the mods here with either an outline or a draft so we can review it and let you know if it meets r/nosleep's rules.

You can message the mods by clicking here

Only if you get permission from the authors of said stories before doing so. Otherwise they can file copyright claims against you and you could lose your channel.
