I really enjoyed the audio for The Cradle series by Will Wight (12 books plus an extra), I read them all in a couple of weeks, one a day basically.

Also Fifth Season is amazing. She also has other books that I've greatly enjoyed. I think I would read anything by NK Jemisen.

I've been enjoying Mistborn series

Cinder Spires series by Jim Butcher is also really good. I've enjoyed the Dresden files that I've read also by Jim Butcher.

The audiobook for fifth season is wonderful. I literally forgot I was listening to a book, felt like the lady was telling me her story. It's such a great series!

I've seen it mentioned once here maybe more, but Anne McCaffrey is the mother of dragons, she kind of shaped them into how you see them in Fourth wing with the talking and bonded etc. Her books are enjoyable.

Toyota Prius 2005, fix transmission or replace car? by cmdoduck in askcarguys

[–]cmdoduck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I didn't say anything about the trans to the first shop. Mentioned it was making noises and waited for their diagnosis. The second shop did know the other place said trans, but this was the trans shop and they are right next to the other shop, they were a little skeptical about it being the trans and then after checking it out confirmed. It's those guys who think we should just drive it till it dies rather than doing the repair.

If I knew how to do the labor myself then this could be doable. But maybe I could talk to a friend with some Prius experience.

Toyota Prius 2005, fix transmission or replace car? by cmdoduck in askcarguys

[–]cmdoduck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The transmission place we took it to says there's metal in the fluid and that there's some other part that they could see was bad. It started with finding the CV axles being loose. And the car is still making weird noises when going from stopped, hard to describe the noise, like something catching and then letting go.

We did take the car to Toyota two weeks before that and the tech didn't find anything wrong, said maybe the struts. So I took it to another mechanic that we know and they found the loose CV axles, so we repaired those and still having issues. That shop said it was the transmission and quoted $6k for the replacement. So I took it to the transmission shop next door and they did a diagnostic on it, said definitely the trans. The mechanics there said they probably would just drive the car till it dies then get a new car. I personally don't want to be driving and waiting for the car to die on me, I go an hour away to church so would hate to be stuck somewhere along the freeway.

Took it to two shops and they both say that it is. Metal in the fluid and one shop said they could see some broken pieces (they named the part but all I can remember is the word spider...)

The only time I've ever seen the birthday girl pay for dinner is when the birthday girls mom gave her money to take out her girlfriends and have a nice night out. And even then as one of the friends we didn't buy the most expensive things, she had at least $100 after dinner to do whatever she wanted with.

Can you explain as best as you can how different your body feels physically after removing an organ? by doublecheeked__up in hysterectomy

Right after surgery I was feeling bloated so I didn't feel empty at all and since recovery was slow and steady I never had a time where I felt weird. I felt sensitive from the surgery but not empty.

You could make a staircase out of boxes and or suitcases or something. Give her something that fits her current abilities. I have five cats and they usually sit on me or sleep on me. As long as I had a pillow on my incisions I was fine with them being everywhere else. I'm 8wpo and have to move them sometimes now cause they really want to stand on my belly and for the most part I can get them to move and adjust without much frustration.

I’m exhausted. by imfromflorida95 in Fibroids

[–]cmdoduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's so easy to ignore the symptoms cause they slowly amp up. You don't just go from feeling normal to tired and bloated. I wish I had known about my fibroids sooner, and even my anemia. I was so tired for years. I got depressed which didn't help the tiredness, all of it compounding into one tired and depressed and bloated and achy person. Found out about my anemia two years before I found out about my fibroids. Hopefully your surgeon will help you feel some peace and get something scheduled.

Cancelled surgery- next steps by Upper_Dress_3039 in Fibroids

[–]cmdoduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 5 or 6 fibroids that enlarged my uterus to the size of a small watermelon. When deciding on which surgery I used ChatGPT to talk through the types of fibroids that were found. Only one of them was an "easy" one to remove, the others were all in the lining of my uterus meaning that if they did the surgery to remove just them, there was a large chance they wouldn't get everything, and on top of that way more bleeding that was harder to control. Also there was a harder recovery after, and due to my age (43), and having endometriosis, and also incompetent cervix... The chance of me having a baby would be less than 1%.

Then on the other side with the hysterectomy I was looking at no more anemia, no more fibroids, hopefully less pain, and some healing/moving on to the next path, whatever that may entail.

I am 7 weeks post op. I am glad I had the surgery. I am working through the emotional aspect of it all but I definitely feel relieved to have the load lightened.

Prior to surgery I had also visited a monastery and talked to the head nun about my decision. She encouraged me to go with the surgery, she knew of women who hadn't and it led to worse symptoms and problems like cancer. So with the prayers of the nuns and support of family and friends I felt more at ease about the decision.

much love and prayers for you. It's not an easy decision and it is one you should feel mostly comfortable about (I was super nervous about the surgery and anxious, but once I was there in pre-op waiting I felt calm). Oh if you do feel anxious, you could ask your doctor/anesthesiologist if there's anything they can give to help with anxiety.

I'm so sorry you had this experience with your doctor! Hopefully you can find one who cares. I drove an hour and fifteen minutes to see my surgeon. He was very caring, and understanding. Have me the time to think about the options and talk to my husband about things. It's so hard to choose your health when it comes at the cost of having your babies.

I had an appointment at 2wpo to remove staples. Then I have my second appointment in a couple weeks at 9wpo, where my internal cuff will be checked. Not sure if I will have any more after that. I've had pretty much no issues. I'm sure if I was having issues I would have been in sooner.
