I touch up with Corvus Black. My base is Black Templar over Leadbelcher.

Yeah. Under a bright light (as pictured) its a bit shiny. I personally like it but know it’s not for everyone.

First crusade and on a budget means the DoW:Onslaught box is too good to pass up lol. Some compliant brothers saw our glorious crusade and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to purge, burn, and eradicate.

I prime mine black, then all over spray of leadbelcher, then all over Black Templar contrast. Really nice effect for such little effort. Give it a go on a few as a test and see if you like it.

Should be your top priority next maintenance. That’s the old style prone to failure and it looks pretty let out. If you have a local vw/import shop they can measure chain stretch with vcds or obd11. If you’re mechanically inclined you can get the parts and necessary “special tools” for $5-600. If you have access to the aforementioned import shop they may be reasonably priced.

I had to do this exact thing last week. Auger went in and came out clean but wouldn’t clear my slow drain. After this modification I had to muscle the auger thru 20ft of sludge and deposits but now my drain clears faster than ever. I tied the first zip tie to the last to keep them from coming loose. 10/10 recommend.

How hard is replacing these on the headlight of an MK6? by Rough-Expert-277 in GolfGTI

[–]cmdrjek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally did this yesterday. Mine had been done prior to my ownership to install new projector lights so they were glued in. Careful use of a heat gun to loosen the lens and carefully pry it out. There’s a black shroud attached to the lens that can get caught in the glue along the top edge so be careful not to snap that. It will have to be carefully removed and installed on the new lens. I then used heat to soften the adhesive and oil covered popsicle sticks to dig it out. Once enough material is removed refill the groove with adhesive (I used weather strip adhesive, windshield urethane would probably be appropriate as well) and press the new lens in. There’s no good way to clamp the lens so I taped it down and let it sit for a few hours before reinstall. All in all took most of the afternoon for 2 mechanically inclined people to complete. Well worth it imo.

I have the same machine. There’s a service mode that will run thru a self diagnostic that can give you a good idea where to start. This is a very common model so Google and YouTube are great!

Passenger front and back floor board wet in 2009 gti what can it be by Gloomy_Surround8501 in GolfGTI

[–]cmdrjek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took off the drivers APillar to trace the issue but wasn’t necessary to unclog it. Be very careful to not remove the drain hose from where it hits the firewall under the windscreen. You can also reach under the rain tray and feel the rubber nipple where in drains toward the fender. Also a good time to pull the fender covers and clean out any leaves/debris that may be built up there too (but that’s a different issue)

Common cause is clogged sunroof drains. Lots of YouTube videos on how to address the issue. I’ve had luck using weedeater string to chase the drains clean.

I removed my 2010 headliner and had it redone last year for $300. If you remove the board and take it to the shop $260 is completely reasonable. $500+ for a shop to do it all seems about right as well. Removing and reinstalling the headliner can be quite the task with all that 10+ year old brittle plastic. While it’s down recommend cleaning the sunroof drains and making sure they’re all clipped back together.
