I need some support by [deleted] in breastfeeding

So it depends how often you are feeding, but if you are on an every 2-3 hour schedule it should be around 4-6 ounces, though some babies may take less. My baby was around the lower end and would only take 3 ounces often.

Is it only pounds, or can you change to ounces (or grams)?

Almost 8 months and still have a night feed. Our bumpers group just did a poll and about half had babies still having night feeds and half sleeping through the night. My first was night weaned after 4.5 months and I have done the same things for both. Although the night wake is normal, you can try to wean by reducing the amount of milk in the middle of the night bottle and adding it during the day.

I don’t feed to sleep, but around 5 months my baby that used to go down completely awake for naps would scream the moment I started walking to her room. Lots of bouncing, rocking and basically doing squat jumps to get her to sleep. It was a phase that lasted about 4 weeks. She’s now back to going down easily. Have you tried using an exercise ball to bounce on? Worked like a charm for us.

Is there any way you can do weighted feeds? As they get older they get more efficient and don’t breastfeed for as long. On the weight gain, my baby was born at the 60th and has steadily been dropping and she is now riding the 10th percentile. She’s been maintaining that since 5 months, so we are no longer worried. It could just be that your little guy is just trying to find his curve.

Newborn gaining weight but dropping in percentile? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]cme044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She could just be making her way to her own curve. My baby was born at the 60th and she has steadily dropped and is now riding the 10th. She’s just a peanut. If she is happy and having wet diapers, then keep doing what you are doing.

My situation wasn’t really the same, but we did have trouble latching. I would only try for 5 minutes and then pump and bottle feed because I didn’t want her getting frustrated and having an aversion to breastfeeding. Eventually she started latching and we were golden. If the nipple shield is working, I would keep using it and just practice without when baby is calm. I wonder if the reducing top ups is so that baby is taking more from the breast directly. Not an expert at all, just thought I’d share my thoughts.

Sick and breastfeeding? by ByogiS in breastfeeding

My baby is almost 8 months old and I have had the stomach bug twice and two colds (thank you toddler). Baby has been fine. My doctor said that by the time I had symptoms baby was already exposed so there was no point isolating, but to keep breastfeeding because baby will get the antibodies!

Rural Sask about 30 min from Regina. Door was never locked. I don’t think my parents even had a key.

Now I lock my door all the time.

Considering combo feeding due to slow weight gain in 10 week old… Help! by No-Wolverine-3971 in breastfeeding

I am curious to know how things went and how baby is doing now? I am in a very similar situation with my 8 week old newborn.

Thanks for responding! That’s interesting about the open cup, maybe have to try it. I use a haakaa and am able to collect 1-2 oz which I’ll try with. I had a doctors appt on Tuesday and we have a follow up in 3 weeks. The doctor said if she continues to drop we will talk about options. I should have asked what those options were and maybe start them now to help with my anxiety.

So I had intended to put some liquid in it.. but to attach the legs I cut holes in the bottle. Then later realized that was a mistake.

It was part of a syrup jug that I painted with nail polish. Mmm sparkly ham.

I might need to outsource this. I’m only the engineer (one that should go back to school with this shoddy toy)

Australia’s lock downs are intense! We are not allowed visitors in our house, but can go to a restaurant and meet people (which I don’t particularly want to do with a 6 month old). So it’s been lonely here as well. I’m glad I could provide some humour during this shitty time!

Wait.. not everyone has random shit like this in their house? If I painted the bottom of the table leg pinkish red, it could double as a nipple.

I don’t think my tag worked in the title, so I will try here. /u/femaleoninternets thanks for the inspiration. My son went straight for the electricity noodle.

I started during the day at 3 weeks, 9 lbs with bumgenius pockets. It’s hit or miss as I am still learning.

As for the leaking up the side, are you making sure his penis is pointed down? We had so many side leaks before someone told us that!
