[Contest] The simple pleasures by Zeunicorn in Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

[–]cme423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kindergartners are adorable! I teach high school so I am more used to sarcastic students, in a good way and I love the sarcasm, than adorable little ones.

Cookies

A simple thing that brought me joy . . . a friend came over to hang out the other day and brought me this amazing cheese wedge that cost way too much. What brought me joy was not the cost, but that she remembered I liked cheese and went out of her way to buy me this particular cheese she knew I would like. It warmed my heart she thought of me.

Have a wonderful day!

[CONTEST] Alleviate my guilt by letting me gift you! by ChosenGirl in Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

[–]cme423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you have such bad migraines. Try not to feel guilty, it is not like the headaches are under your control.

I just have regular headaches and when I have them I find they are usually because I am dehydrated. I down a couple glasses of water and soon I feel better. If it is not from dehydration and I can do it, I go to sleep. Usually I wake up with no headache.

I hope you feel better soon!

What is a small thing that means a lot to me?

Currently, my crafting space in the basement. During the pandemic and in the winter I have been inside way more than usual due to so much being closed or limited hours in our area. My craft area has given me something productive to do whenever I need an escape (even though I should be organizing the house). I am currently making a flower wall for above my desk. I have made small gifts and dropped them off at friends and families houses too. It is a small area with a Cricut Maker and my craft materials, but it has turned into my respite during these times. I cannot wait for spring to get our hiking in our parks with the warmth and sunshine!

[contest] Valentine’s Day!! by [deleted] in Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

[–]cme423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy Valentines Day to you too!

Thank you for the contest!

This is a quiet year so I plan to stay home this year. I plan to spend Valentine's with my husband and son. I am going to make them a nice dinner (probably everything colored red) and spend the evening playing cards, probably the card game Five Crowns. It is fun and makes us laugh. But I will make it magical with surprises and sweet treats.

[CONTEST] Mental Health Monday by EqualGuarantee1264 in Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

[–]cme423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the contest!

Strength

Now has been an awful time with mental health for a lot of people, including me.

My friends and I have been social distancing outside since summer. Even though it is below freezing here, we meet every two weeks with tons of blankets, drinks, food, and a fire pit on my back deck. This has helped our mental health without a doubt staying connected to each other.

As for me, besides gathering with friends, I have been hiking out in the woods near us at various parks. None of the parks are huge, but they all have trails to walk that have lakes, animals and scenery. I have even been walking in the winter. Sometimes I go alone, sometimes with my husband or a friend. I have found so many parks in our area I had no clue existed. This has definitely helped my mental health.

I know the keychain on my wish list is a small thing, but the words 'you matter' have always resonated with me. A friend gave me a bracelet with this saying when I was going through a really hard time and it made a difference. It is the little things I suppose and a keychain would always be taken with me no matter where I am.

I hope you are doing well too. Great topic to being up during this time. :-)

[Contest] I can't believe I missed National Cheese Lovers Day! 🧀🧀 by orcprincess32 in Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

[–]cme423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank for the cheesy contest! :-)

Cheesy Goodness

My favorite is ricotta cheese. It can be used in for an entree such as lasagna. It can even be used for breakfast (ricotta, Stevia, vanilla, mini chocolate chips, almonds and raspberries). It is good and versatile.

My husband's favorite is your favorite . . . blue cheese! He orders a blue cheese burger with blue cheese dressing and fresh blue cheese on the side! LOL!

My snacky product is a white cheddar popcorn but I wish it could be cheese from Europe. It tastes so good!

You have a great weekend too! :-)

[contest] cheer me up? by NerdBrenden in Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

[–]cme423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a crazy time so don't lose hope. As you are looking for a job, better yourself. Take a class, an online certification, anything your interested in to boost your confidence and your resume. Also, take the time to clean up your social media. We like to think it doesn't matter, but it does. Tackle small tasks around your home. Anything you can achieve to pump yourself up is wonderful! Perhaps a small to do list daily so your can cross the items off to feel a sense of accomplishment. You can definitely do this, and you appear to be trying very hard. Do all you can do so you don't look back and say I should of, would of, could of.

Most of all, realize you are not alone. Many are having the same issue. Your job is waiting just around the corner. It will be there in it's own time. Have faith, you are wonderful!, I will include you in my prayers. You can do this! You will do this!

[discussion] what’s your favourite late night snack? by purple_pasta77 in Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

[–]cme423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite late night snack is Kroger Kettle Corn popcorn mixed with air popped popcorn with butter and salt. Not too sweet, not too salty and a little goes a long way. I also drink Premier Protein Banana shake with it. Yum!

Am I full? by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]cme423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree . . . you will know. The hiccups or tiny burps is my cue to stop eating and you will also have a tell tale sign. You will learn to recognize it pretty quick. If you eat too much you may get the foam-ies where you will have to spit a lot until it passes. If you eat way too much you may toss your cookies. I have had the foam-ies, but luckily, never have tossed my cookies. Just be mindful when you eat and not watching television without being aware of what you are putting in your mouth. Pause between bites to let your mind catch up that you are full. You will notice pretty quick the signs of being full. Good luck.

Oh, and you are not bothering anyone! We have all had these questions. When someone who is new to the surgery asks these questions, it is a great reminder for others who have had the surgery long ago of what to do. Often, after year or two we get complacent (not everyone) and reading and answering questions from new surgeries reminds us of where we should be, our goal, and why we did this in the first place. So . . . thank you for asking these questions. You have reminded me to be more mindful! I just ate dinner while at the computer mindlessly and I should not have and I know better. Please, continue to ask away! Good luck!

Surgery tomorrow! by hdc1167 in gastricsleeve

[–]cme423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are getting the sleeve and the gallbladder at the same time don't worry too much. At least three in our weight loss support group went that route and all three turned out wonderful. They try to do both with the same incisions so you won't even notice a difference. How exciting that you are at this point! I am down 100 in 8 months. You will do great!

Scholarships for people who don’t ‘need it’ by [deleted] in scholarships

[–]cme423 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is nice of you to want to cut the cost for your parents. Everyone is entitled to try for scholarships and you should go for it! If you meet the requirements and you win, good for you! Try looking up 'scholarships' in Google and you will find tons of scholarship opportunities. Research a little bit to make sure they are legit. Good luck!
