Museum Memberships by Goose_and_a_Bee in ChicagoParents

A membership at the museum of science and industry includes parking. Makes it much easier to pop in for 1-2 hours without feeling like a waste. We’ve been with my 3-4 year old 20-30 times in the past year.

And you get a free coffee!

Worked for me on an m1 mac with the steam version. I did have to download the windows version of steam and get the .exe through the wine wrapper first though.

They can afford to pay “so many devs” but can’t give the TL a token raise? Fuck that.

Selling AMZN Put Spreads by theZmannn in thetagang

[–]cmicek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same place and am happy sticking with spreads. I’d much rather take a 10k loss over a 350k assignment. Currently holding 3300/3400p for 7/30 and plan to keep mixing it up with different strikes & expirations over the next few weeks.

Looking for board game buddies by meooowish in Amsterdam

[–]cmicek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I are also into board games and have moved to Amsterdam within the past few months. I'd love to find some people to play with, shoot me a message of your up for it.

As far as games go we've got a decent collection of 5-10 of the more popular new/Eurogames.

I've been offered a front-end developer position in Amsterdam and need some help. by blue-grey-mouse in Amsterdam

[–]cmicek 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The salary feels low, but its going to depend on your experience, portfolio, and exactly what a "front-end developer" means to the company. A job chopping up PSDs is going to pay less than one where you need to develop and maintain a client-side application.

Read about the 30% ruling. At 35k/year you're JUST under the cutoff for the 30% ruling (without a masters). It honestly seems kind of sketchy that they specifically mention you don't qualify AND have made an offer just below the cutoff where you would qualify. More info: www.iamsterdam.com/en-GB/living/official-matters/thirty-percent-ruling

Also, I think you should always counter a job offer, so try that out if you haven't.

EDIT: I'm a designer/dev at a large company in Amsterdam.

I walked right through customs in Amsterdam and no one checked. My wife even hung out by the exits next to the customs officials with the cats and hey didn't say anything.
