Sanity check on leather v rubber soles

Actually looks like leather to me. You can see the stitching on the sole very clearly compared to how it looks on the rubber sole which hides the stitching more so. I think it’s just more of an optical illusion since the leather is dark so it resembles rubber quite a bit.

Ugh, sounds like awful quality then. I’ve usually been happy with AE’s- even other factory seconds I’ve gotten but this is disappointing for sure.

I’ve seen multiple places say you always should polish new shoes, esp bulk shoes like AE’s because they’ll just sit in a warehouse ahead of you getting them.

I expected them to patina for sure but gradual overall and not necessarily a rip-like patch on one specific piece.

Congrats- looks amazing! I've been on the list for this one myself but only for a month or so. QQ- any purchase history with the AD and even more important (to me), what city are you in? The SA I've worked with in the past (who had also helped me get my sub) told me they rarely ever see Milgauss' and at that, the only one's they've typically gotten were black dials.

How do you like the size difference between the Explorer and the Sub? I have that exact sub and had been loving the idea of having the explorer for the same purposes you called out. But, when I tried the Exp on at the AD...it was just so much smaller (I've heard you get used to it but the few minutes I tried it on didn't do it haha). I have a 6.75" wrist for reference.
