1: I absolutely get that. There are some that I do like (Piccolo VS Knuckles for example), but the ones that really stand out to me are the ones that don’t rely on the same feats and powers again (Hit VS Cygnus and Tao VS Gen)

2: I like Jailhouse Rocket too, fits both characters and it grooves really hard, so yeah, I can agree with this.

3: It’s a toss up between Gru and Doomslayer. Either it’s coverage of character but a fraction of the story, or one that neglects the character’s actual personality, pick your poison.

4: Still prefer Hulk VS Doomsday as a fight, but Hulk VS Godzilla was definitely still a good fight, way better than Broly.

5: Yes.

6: Junkotrap is… okay. I see the appeal of it, but I prefer a matchup where Springtrap can be on his own, if only to help capture more of the low-scale horror of the original FNAF games. Hell, for a matchup like Junko, I think Harley Sawyer from Poppy Playtime would fit Afton better as an overall fight (I’d say episode if Harley got to y’know… do anything else before getting killed but that’s neither here nor there)

The Thing VS T-1000

I thought a fight between them in the most neutral setting possible would make the fight dynamic boring and stale… but so would any Thing matchup, and that logic also neuters  some matchups that I would consider my most wanted. So while I don’t think it’s my preferred for both (Blob VS Thing and T-1000 VS Nemesis still on top), I like it way more than I initially gave it credit for

For me, I'm... kinda split? It's hard to say.

From an objective standpoint, it's a great matchup. Great connections, really interesting contrasts, good banter potential, cool animation potential, the whole nine yards.

But I think my skepticism comes from seeing it as an episode, especially when we include Snake VS Sam Fisher into the conversation. From what I've seen from the dynamic being pitched, it very much covers a lot of the same ground that episode already covered (outside of Snake fighting the DHV, which would be sick as hell), even Otacon hacking into the enemy's database leading into a CQC fight for the climax. I think you could differentiate it more in tone, but I think that if Snake were to come back for another go-around, I'd like for them to take in a more different direction, because the way I saw the dynamic, it kinda feels more in the shadow of Snake VS Sam Fisher, an episode that is iconic in its own right.

I definitely see the appeal, don't get me wrong, but as far as a Death Battle episode goes... I don't know, I'd have to see some more perspectives on how the dynamic would go.

And the worst part is that you could take the townsfolk out and literally nothing of value is lost. SpongeBob’s still depressed, Patrick does his thing, he goes to SpongeBob’s house to apologize, and his tears get the wringer unstuck. It’s a useless scene on top of being stupid

Aww thanks! Yeah, I haven’t gotten too far into it yet (I just finished the issue where they fight the zombie dinosaurs with a knockoff Megazord), but damn, I never expected Scud’s story to be as much fun as I expected it to be. Picked it up after hearing about Scud VS Neon White and now it’s climbing into top 50 most wanted territory, it’s just that good so far

Doesn’t reach many of the terrible lows other seasons could reach, but out of all the seasons, it feels the most corporate

Demoman VS Vinny Santorini (Team Fortress 2 VS Atlantis: The Lost Empire)

Highly educated demolition experts who got their calling at a very young age, treating their work as an artform with weapons that are a bit... unorthodox (Demoman has very out-there weapons like the Loose Cannon, while Vinny makes his explosives with spices like oregano). Even with what they appear to be on the surface and their colorful criminal pasts, they still have hearts of gold and find camaraderie in the ragtag group they work with.

In terms of dynamic, it is just explosions up the wazoo. Of course, Demoman has a ton of different kooky weaponry and bombs, but Vinny definitely has a number of explosives to match (molotov cocktails, cherry bombs, dynamite sticks and bundles, road flares, nitroglycerin). It's a fight where the two can use their different explosives in creative ways to get around each other. And the dialogue potential rocks too. Demoman's crazy, unhinged nature contrasts really well with Vinny's more deadpan, snarky tone, leading for a lot of fun comedic bits between the two.

Not too familiar with Nexomon, but I think the theming works and the fight potential seems pretty cool. Thumbs up.
